My Splinterlands Social Media Challenge! Testing new Strategies with Pelacor Conjurer
Hello guys, this is my entry to the "Splinterlands Social Media Challenge!". If you want to participate and/or read more about the challenge, click here.
We are in the middle of another season of Splinterlands and like always we are experimenting and developing new strategies with different cards. This week, we are focusing on an interesting unit called Pelacor Conjurer. This is a common unit in the Life element.
I have been using it for a while now but never talked about it so let's talk about its stats in detail.
Pelacor Conjurer
Pelacor Conjurer is a common Life unit which came out in the chaos legion edition. It is a reward card and costs just 2 mana.
I had a level 5 unit. It comes with a speed of 4, however, it doesn't have any attack of its own. But the best part is its relatively good health of 6 hp and its abilities: 'flying' and 'magic reflect'. So, it is a good unit to be used as a tank, especially when you have a low mana cap. I prefer to use it as my primary tank when I use it.
Let's see how I utilized it in one of my battles.
My Lineup
This is my lineup for the battle
It was only a 45-mana battle and had 2 interesting rulesets:
Stampede - The Trample ability can trigger multiple times per attack if the trampled Monster is killed.
Reverse Speed - Monsters with the lowest speed attack first and have the highest chance of evading attacks.
It was enough mana for me and a couple of unrestrictive rulesets made my job easy as well. Only Life, Water, and Dragon elements were active during this battle.
I used the Chanseus the Great as my summoner, it comes with Triage, Repair and Resurrect abilities which are going to be very useful in this high mana cost battle.
I used the Pelacor Conjurer in the first position. It works best in the first position as a tank because of its 'Flying' and 'Magic reflect' abilities. It only costs 2 mana so I could have enough for the rest of my lineup. Even in this low mana, it had relatively good health.
In the next position, I used the Time Meddler. It is a good unit that works perfectly as a secondary tank. It deals 2 magic damage and comes with good health of 8 and even has 5 shields as well. The 'Dodge' ability makes it better against melee and ranged attackers.
Next was the High Priest Darius, another mage that dealt a heavy magic attack of 3. This costs 10 mana but it justifies this high cost with its two interesting abilities: 'Resurrect' and 'Weaken'. Both these abilities are very powerful. Although I would have liked it to have more hp as well.
Djinn Renova was placed in the fourth position in my lineup. It was there to add to the attacking strength of my lineup. It's impressive that 3 magic attacks are very important. It also comes with a very useful 'Strengthen' ability which gave much-needed extra health points to all my units.
In the next place, I used the Time Mage. It only costs 4 mana but comes with great speed and deals 2 magic damage. The best thing about this unit is its 'Slow' ability which decreases the speed of all enemy monsters and as we all know speed plays an important role in our battles. This was a much-needed ability.
Last but not least was the Adelade Brightwing. It costs 7 mana and also dealt a heavy magic attack of 2. But it has relatively lower health (only 5hp) and the speed is very low as well. However, it comes with three interesting abilities: 'Flying', 'Repair' and 'Resurrect'. All three of these abilities were very useful during this battle.
Now that my lineup was set, it was time for battle.
I will share my battle here, which I have uploaded to YouTube.
My Strategy
Even though one of the rulesets was "Stampede" I went with a heavy magic attack. I knew I can probably overwhelm the opponent with magic attacks.
I used the Chanseus the Great for its 'Resurrect' ability. And not only that, I even used 2 more units with the resurrect ability which made my tank stand there for so long. By the time it died, their team was much weaker and it just costs 2 mana.
I used units which gave buffs to all the friendly units and nerf the enemy monsters. Eg. 'Strengthen', 'Slow' or 'Weaken' abilities.
This strategy, as you will see, worked in my favour and gave me a nice win.
My opponent had to eliminate Pelacor Conjurer a total of three times. Round 1 was gone just to get rid of this unit and it still was not dead. Also, its Magic reflect ability reduced the health of other units who attacked it with magic damage.
They used the Djinn Oshannus which is a powerful and strong tank and is extremely effective against magic damage. But my units got rid of it even before the end of round 2.
My Time Meddler played a huge role and strengthen the team from the front. Its dodge ability helped in missing many attacks from enemy units. Its armour combined with the ability made it a great defensive unit my enemy failed to get rid of this and I got an easy win in the end.
Conclusion
Pelacor Conjurer is an interesting unit, costing just 2 mana and having relatively good health with some interesting abilities like 'Flying' and 'Magic Reflect' makes it an incredibly useful unit, especially when it comes to low mana battles.
Even though it doesn't have any attacks it still does a good job considering its very low cost. I would recommend it to everyone. Sometimes you can even use it as a secondary tank and place it in the second position to cushion and protect the monsters on the back line.
Let me know if you use this with any other strategies. That's all from me.
