Hirschfelden with its unpredictable weather | theHunter: Call of the Wild
Hello, gamers. Welcome back to my blog.
theHunter: Call of the Wild is an old game now. It was launched in 2017 but the graphics are still good for a hunting game. The best part is they keep adding more maps/reserves based on different parts of the world. I don't have all the DLCs but one of the most beautiful maps in the game is "Hirschfeldon Hunting Reserve" located somewhere in northern Europe. This map features many species of deer ranging from the small Roe deer to the big Red deer. Certain parts of the map have a good population of European bison and Red foxes while the Wild Boars are spread throughout the map.
Anyways I wanted to complete a side mission given by Mr Bhandari. This guy is researching the local Bison population and gives me missions from time to time. He gave me a rather difficult mission this time. I had to take down a Bison within 30 meters and this should take place in the central region of the map called Schonfeldt.
So, first I had to go to Schonfeldt. I looked at the time and it was already evening so I decided to take a rest in my outpost to skip the time and wake up early in the morning.
It was a beautiful morning, though there were some clouds in the sky and hunting in the rain is not easy. The visibility gets low and you can't take long shots. Anyways, I set out to get to Schonfeldt. I was not even sure if I will see a Bison there. I have only come across the Bison's way west of there. Not in the central part.
More clouds came in and now it was starting to get gloomy. While I was going through a dense forest a small patch came with no trees around it and there was an unfinished hunting stand so I paid some amount and built it. These hunting towers give you a better view of the surrounding and also conceals you from animals, and they are put in strategic hunting locations. So, whenever I come across them I complete them.
I moved on and heard a warning call coming from the woods. I moved in that direction and found a 'Roe Deer'. I slowly approached without making much noise and it went back to eating calmly.
I made the shot and it was a perfect lung shot that punchered both of its lungs. These deer are so small and most of the shots get through them easily. This one was a small male weighing only 27 kg and I bagged a silver medal from this harvest.
I moved on and now I was in the Schonfeldt region. This is a massive region right in the centre of the reserve. Suddenly, the weather got worse and it started raining. The fog also came slowly and engulfed the whole place.
My visibility got lowered. But I kept hearing calls from Roe Deer and followed it. Soon, I came across a distressed female who was now alarmed by my presence. Later I realised it was the wind direction that gave my position away.
I never found that deer again. Wind direction was against me on that occasion. Now the rain had stopped but there was still fog in the area and I was in the deer county.
There were some cornfields close to this area because I saw some Canada Geese flying over my head and the flock take a rest and eat in the cornfields. I tried to shoot them mid-air but they were flying with good speed and were so high up, no wonder I got no hits. It was just wishful thinking I guess.
All this time I was actively looking for Bison's footprints and other clues but I got none. Soon, the weather also cleared and the sky was blue again.
I found the cornfield that I suspected was nearby. There was a small group of Ring-Necked Pheasant eating. Only one was male and the others were females. The male is much more beautiful than the female and I tried to hunt it but it somehow sensed me and flew away. But not the females, they were not bothered.
I aimed at one of the females and since a bird is only a class 1 animal so it can be shot with a class 1 ammo-type weapon to get the maximum reward but I had no weapon with such low power so I shot it with my Ranger .243 and missed one of the harvest checks. At least I got some cash reward and XP.
I moved on in search of Bisons but there were none. No clue about them as well. I didn't know finding them would take this long. I saw an outpost that was barely visible and surrounded by dense forest.
I reached there and unlocked it. So, I have a place here to fast travel in case I want to come back here. I can also use the store and rest in the outpost. So, it was a good find for me.
At last, after searching for so long I heard a call from Bison. I was excited and went in the direction of the call. I have not seen it yet but it was enough for me.
I never realised when the weather got worse, maybe I was not paying attention to that. I found some footprints as well and followed them. I followed and followed them but they got mixed with others and the calls came from the other direction so I followed the calls instead but this was all a distraction I guess.
I never saw the Bison and the weather was not helping as well. After some time the weather finally cleared up but I lost track and no calls were heard. I found a small lake but there was no hint of animals there. That was very disappointing. Now, going back to the tracks will not lead me anywhere so I gave up on finding them.
This part of the map is challenging with thick, dense forest hiding all the animals perfectly. They sense my way before I hear or see them. I was walking through the forest and came across another lake. This was a much bigger one and I saw a Red deer. These are my favourites from this map. They have large antlers over their head.
I aimed at the lungs but missed the lungs and the bullet dropped down which only hit the flesh and no organs. So, I had to track down the injured deer until it dies from blood loss or something. After following the blood trails for like 700 meters I found the kill. I harvest it and got the bronze medal only.
This gave me enough XP and I levelled up which gave me a "Perk point". These perks and skills point makes the game easier by unlocking new abilities or helping the hunter gain new skills.
I wanted to unlock the "Fast Shouldering" under the Shotguns tab. This perk increases the speed of entering and exiting aim mode and also increases the speed of switching weapons. And there are two levels to this one. But first I had to unlock the previous one to get to this.
So, I went with the "Both Eyes Open" even though it was not the best perk in the game.
I ended the game after this upgrade. This was an end to another hunting session. This one was rather challenging mainly because of the weather playing games on me. These missions from Bhandari are getting tougher and tougher. Hopefully, I can do it the next time. Wish me luck!
Thanks for reading...
Until next time...

I think you are fond of games and gaming as I am often seeing your gaming articles. Some people don't like games and spread negativity as well about games.
Yes, I am. Not everyone can agree with one thing. Games spread negativity? What exactly are their arguments?

Despite of shooting from 80 meters it's hard to make a nice shoot from 200 meters right? But I believe you can do it. You already did it btw, it just took 700 meters to die XD
And yeah this kind of games never gets old because they constantly got updates, new maps, new animals etc.
Depends on the type of animal as well, also on the side the animal is facing, whether it is walking, running, jumping or standing still. 200 meters is still not bad with a good rifle and scope, especially if you have the "steady hands" skill unlocked.
Thanks for checking it out bro. Have a great day!
