Going back to Savanna to Hunt | theHunter: Call of the Wild

Hello, gamers. Welcome back to my blog.

I have been playing on Silver Ridge Peaks and Hirschfelden Reserve a lot lately and I kind of ignored another good map in the game with some interesting endemic species. I am talking about Vurhonga Savanna, this is the only map where you can hunt a Lion. Today, we are not going to hunt lions but focus on their prey Springboks, Gemsbok and Wildebeests.

We were assigned a mission to Harvest Springbok in the Vuxa region of the reserve. It is the eastern part of the reserve has a few lakes and open grasslands and you will find a lot of Springboks here.

I was already standing in this region and now I need to locate a springbok. They usually live in groups and are slender antelope and are very agile. They run from danger while jumping and hence they get Spring in their name.

Anyways, I locate a small group, they were at least 250 meters away and travelling to my right. I decide to follow them to decrease my distance for a good, clean shot.

They are not very tall and once they entered the tall grass I could no longer see them. I was following their tracks but I didn't find them and I lost the tracks as well.

By this time, I saw a wildebeest resting a few hundred meters away from me. I decided to hunt that instead. I snuck closer and when I felt comfortable to take the shot I took a clean shot on its lung. It dropped dead quickly and we didn't have to track it down.

It was just a small female and I only got a bronze medal from this kill.

I continued to look for signs of Springboks and found an unconstructed hunting structure. In this game, there are some good hunting locations where you can build hunting structures by paying small fees and then which will help you hide better and also hunting from this stand will reduce the accumulation of Hunting pressure on the area. When hunting pressure increases then animals will avoid travelling to those areas.

From this stand, I can see much farther and I saw two different herds of Wildebeest. One was travelling away from me and the other one was grazing. Both were at least 300 meters away but since some are completely still I had the time to take one good shot.

I always try to aim at the lungs as it is a vital organs and you can down any animal in the game with a lung shot. You might have to track some of them down but they will eventually die from that. I saw that it was 317 meters away and I got a good lung shot. However, it was just another smaller female and I only bagged a Bronze medal.

I failed to locate Springbok and realised that the sun was getting down and probably they have gone to their resting grounds. But I continued to look and instead saw a beautiful Gemsbok taking a rest out in the open. It was an easy target for me.

I got closer and took a nice shot, it hits right on the middle of left lung and that was enough to take this down. This is one of the largest antelope in Savanna.

The sun was going down and I had to call off the search early. I hate hunting in the dark. You can't see anything if you don't own the hi-tech hunting accessory DLC which I don't own currently. So, I decide to quick travel to an outpost and took a rest there.

I put 9:15 am as my wake-up time. The next morning when I looked outside my outpost, I was greeted with the sight of Springbok. If I have known that they get active in the morning here I would have done it soon.

It was calmly eating grass and all I had to do now is either move slowly and go closer to reduce the chance of missing the shot or risk it and take a shot from here. Of course, I took the second option xD. I was impatient from searching all day yesterday and wanted to bag this quickly.

It all worked beautifully in the end and I got a silver one. This ended my quest and I was rewarded with precious XP and cash.

Vurhonga Savanna might not have the best-looking landscapes but its less saturated dried-up grasslands are some of the best hunting grounds in the game which has a good population of antelopes and their predators. I love to hunt here as much as I like it in Silver Ridge Peaks.

Thanks for reading...

Until next time...
