Autumn is a season of transformation and theres no better way to embrace its beauty than with a peaceful walk through nature.

There's something about autumn that feels like a quiet celebration of change. As the days grow shorter and the air turns crisp, nature comes alive in colors so vibrant, they seem almost unreal. This day, I decided to take full advantage of this beautiful season by exploring the forest of Melres at a time I don't usually go walking late afternoon, just as the sun was beginning to set.

Há algo no outono que parece uma celebração silenciosa da mudança. À medida que os dias ficam mais curtos e o ar mais fresco, a natureza ganha vida em cores tão vibrantes que parecem quase irreais. Este dia decidi aproveitar ao máximo esta bela estação explorando a floresta de Melres numa altura em que não costumo passear ao final da tarde, quando o sol começava a pôr-se.

Nestled near the Douro River, it feels like a world apart, where time slows down and the only sounds you hear are the whispers of the wind and the crunch of leaves underfoot. This walk, however, was particularly special. The combination of the autumn scenery and the golden light of the setting sun transformed my day.

Situado perto do rio Douro, parece um mundo à parte, onde o tempo passa mais devagar e os únicos sons que se ouvem são os sussurros do vento e o estalar das folhas debaixo dos pés. Esta caminhada, no entanto, foi particularmente especial. A combinação do cenário de outono com a luz dourada do sol poente transformou o meu dia.

I arrived at the trailhead in the late afternoon. The sun was still shining brightly but was already low in the sky, bathing everything in a warm, golden glow. It was the perfect kind of autumn day, clear skies, mild temperatures, and just enough of a breeze.

Cheguei ao início do trilho ao final da tarde. O sol ainda brilhava intensamente, mas já estava baixo no céu, banhando tudo com um brilho quente e dourado. Era o tipo perfeito de dia de Outono, céu limpo, temperaturas amenas e brisa suficiente.

The beauty of autumn lies in its fleeting nature. You can almost feel the season slipping away with each step, as the air grows cooler and the days shorter. It's a reminder to pause and appreciate moments like these.

A beleza do outono reside na sua natureza fugaz. Quase se pode sentir a estação a passar a cada passo, à medida que o ar fica mais frio e os dias mais curtos. É um lembrete para fazer uma pausa e apreciar momentos como este.

One of the highlights of the trail is a wooden bridge that crosses a small stream. Its not a grand structure by any means, but its charm adds to the beauty of the forest. The bridge is weathered and worn, but its sturdy and reliable a perfect place to pause and take in the surroundings.

Um dos pontos altos do trilho é uma ponte de madeira que atravessa um pequeno riacho. Não é de forma alguma uma estrutura grandiosa, mas o seu encanto aumenta a beleza da floresta. A ponte está desgastada e gasta, mas é robusta e fiável, um lugar perfeito para fazer uma pausa e apreciar os arredores.

As the sun sank lower, the forest took on a completely different character. The light softened, turning the golden leaves into glowing embers. Shadows lengthened, stretching across the trail and adding an air of mystery to the surroundings.

À medida que o sol se punha, a floresta assumia um carácter completamente diferente. A luz suavizou-se, transformando as folhas douradas em brasas brilhantes. As sombras alongaram-se, estendendo-se pelo trilho e acrescentando um ar de mistério ao ambiente.

The path wound its way through groves of trees, each turn revealing a new view more beautiful than the last. The sunlight filtering through the branches created patterns on the ground, and I couldn't resist stopping every few minutes to take photos.

O caminho serpenteava por entre bosques, cada curva revelando uma nova vista, mais bela que a anterior. A luz solar filtrada pelos ramos criava padrões no chão, e não resisti a parar a cada poucos minutos para tirar fotografias.

One of the things I love most about walking in nature is the way it clears your mind. As I walked, I found myself reflecting on the past few months the challenges I've faced, the goals I’ve achieved, and the things I'm still working on. There's something about the rhythm of walking and the simplicity of being surrounded by nature that makes it easier to think, to sort through your thoughts and find clarity.

Uma das coisas que mais adoro em caminhar na natureza é a forma como esta clarifica a mente. Enquanto caminhava, refleti sobre os desafios que enfrentei nos últimos meses, os objetivos que alcancei e as coisas em que ainda estou a trabalhar. Há algo no ritmo da caminhada e na simplicidade de estar rodeado pela natureza que torna mais fácil pensar, organizar os pensamentos e encontrar clareza.
