The Journey of the Lost Cargo 🛳️🌊
At dawn’s first light, the port awoke,
As workers moved with measured stroke.
A cargo ship stood tall and grand,
Bound for lands with foreign sand.
A metal box, sturdy and square,
Was packed with care in the salty air.
Fresh produce filled its hollow frame,
Bound for markets, with fortune’s claim.
The hum of cranes, the clank of steel,
As the container joined the vessel’s keel.
Stacked with others, side by side,
Ready to cross the ocean wide.
The ship set sail, its journey long,
Through waters deep and currents strong.
Beneath the stars, it cut its way,
Through the quiet night and the breaking day.
But far ahead, a storm did brew,
With winds that howled and skies that grew.
The sea became a churning beast,
As the tempest rose from the east.
The ship did groan, the waves did pound,
As the storm unleashed without a sound.
The cargo shifted, the ship did sway,
And one lone container broke away.
Into the night, it tumbled free,
Lost to the vast and raging sea.
Alone it drifted, far from course,
Carried by the ocean’s force.
Days turned to weeks, the storm passed on,
But the container’s journey had just begun.
Through endless waves and shifting tides,
It wandered where the ocean guides.
It crossed the paths of dolphins’ play,
And brushed the edges of the bay.
It floated through the sun’s warm gleam,
And drifted in the moon’s soft beam.
Seaweed wrapped around its frame,
As it traveled on with no set aim.
Barnacles clung to its steel hide,
A home for creatures, a place to bide.
The produce within began to spoil,
But still, the box refused to coil.
Its purpose lost, its fate unsure,
Yet it continued, strong and pure.
Months went by, seasons changed,
The container’s path was rearranged.
From the Arctic chill to the tropic heat,
It followed where the waters meet.
And one bright day, on a distant shore,
The container washed up, battered and worn.
A relic of a journey long,
Of storms and waves, of right and wrong.
The locals found it, rusted and old,
A story of the sea, untold.
And though its contents had decayed,
The container’s tale would never fade.
For in its steel, the ocean’s song,
Of wandering free, where we belong.
A journey lost, yet still it roams,
In the hearts of those who call the sea their home.

🐬🐬🐬Donate to the Dolphin Project 🐬🐬🐬https://www.dolphinproject.com/donate/
Dolphin Project is a non-profit charitable organization, dedicated to the welfare and protection of dolphins worldwide. Founded by Richard (Ric) O’Barry on Earth Day, April 22, 1970, the organization aims to educate the public about captivity and, where feasible, retire and/or release captive dolphins.
The mission of Dolphin Project is to end dolphin exploitation and slaughter, as dolphins are routinely captured, harassed, slaughtered and sold into captivity around the world – all in the name of profit. Dolphin Project works not only to halt these slaughters, but also to rehabilitate captive dolphins for retirement and/or release, investigate and advocate for economic alternatives to dolphin slaughter, and to put a permanent end to dolphin captivity.
Port Sundries is not affiliated with Dolphin Project but supports their goal 100%.
