As humans, we have a responsibility to take care of the planet and its inhabitants. Cetaceans are one of many species that need our protection and attention. Cetaceans are aquatic mammals such as whales, dolphins, porpoises, and manatees. These animals play an integral role in maintaining oceanic ecosystems around the world. As apex predators, cetaceans help keep other marine populations healthy by consuming prey fish like herring or mackerel. They also provide vital nutrients for deep-sea organisms through their feces.

Unfortunately, cetaceans face numerous threats from human activities including entanglement in fishing gear (bycatch), habitat destruction due to coastal development and pollution from oil spills or fertilizer runoff which can contaminate their food sources and cause respiratory problems if breathed in by them. It is important for us to understand how these factors affect different species so that we can work together towards protecting them better in the future.

By studying cetacean behavior patterns such as migration routes or social interactions between individuals within a pod; scientists can learn more about their biology while also providing valuable information on where they might be most vulnerable to specific threats posed by humans (i.e., noise disruption). This knowledge helps guide protective measures like establishing no-fishing zones along migratory pathways or reducing vessel speeds near key habitats used by certain species during breeding seasons.

In addition to scientific research efforts there are plenty of things people can do right now at home or outdoors which will help protect these animals: reduce plastic waste/littering into waterways/oceans or support your local organizations working on conservation projects focused on cetacean protection are just two ways you can help.

Caring for our oceans starts with understanding what it means for us all – both directly through recreational activities like swimming or snorkeling but also indirectly through ensuring the health of global fisheries upon whom millions depend economically - hence why taking action now is so important.

🐬🐬🐬Donate to the Dolphin Project 🐬🐬🐬https://www.dolphinproject.com/donate/
Dolphin Project is a non-profit charitable organization, dedicated to the welfare and protection of dolphins worldwide. Founded by Richard (Ric) O’Barry on Earth Day, April 22, 1970, the organization aims to educate the public about captivity and, where feasible, retire and/or release captive dolphins.
The mission of Dolphin Project is to end dolphin exploitation and slaughter, as dolphins are routinely captured, harassed, slaughtered and sold into captivity around the world – all in the name of profit. Dolphin Project works not only to halt these slaughters, but also to rehabilitate captive dolphins for retirement and/or release, investigate and advocate for economic alternatives to dolphin slaughter, and to put a permanent end to dolphin captivity.

Port Sundries is not affiliated with Dolphin Project but supports their goal 100%.
