POULTRY FARM AND MY FIFTEENTH BATCH WITH CRAZY ENCOUNTER.

I want to use this medium to greet all great Hivers. How has been your day so far, hope you are all doing good? I'm positive minded that it's all well and fine.

Some weeks ago if some of you happen to follow my post, I brought in new day old chicks fast forward from that time till now, they will be six weeks tomorrow. It has been an amazing rollercoaster in between but some crazy scenarios have happened. Among the scenerio, there's this particular one that almost ruin my business.

One of the issue I have always pinpointed was that the period has been a period that I have found so hectic and stressful, considering the fact that we are in the harmattan period that usually springs heat. And as you all know that heat is not a friend to grown birds. One faithful afternoon, my birds four weeks then, I happened to be inside after a crazy day at work, feel like relaxing to regain some energy. In the midst of doing that, I wasn't aware that crazy thing was happening inside my pen I lost 16 birds to heat stress.

After I discovered late in the evening, I had to pack them out and that became a huge loss but ever since then I became more careful about how I take care of these birds. I now take my time to wet the roof sheet to reduce the heat that the roofing sheets have absorbed from the sunlight and more so, I usually now wet their the inside of the pen.

Heat stress is one of the challenges that farmers are facing in this trying time and it has been hugely the reason behind my discovering so many ways to make my pen a conducive environment for them and the only means is to wet their pen with lit of water. If care isn't taken it can cause huge loss or drain the growth of the business. They are going to be six weeks tomorrow and the plans for the birds is to sell them for festive season.
