I HAD TO IMPROVISED TO CHARCOAL BECAUSE MY 3 DAYS OLD BIRDS NEED HEAT // LIFE OF A LIVESTOCK FARMER.
One of the challenges of rearing birds is rearing birds during the raining season most especially of you are rearing from day old. You are rearing birds that are still small with no feathers, with their immune system still not strong because they are still babies. As we know all know that, when it is raining there will be cold, raining cold or sort of. The weather will be outrightly cold and cool. Day old birds can't cope in raining season unless one finds a way to make the pen heat up and change the weather from cold to got within the pen.
Making use of charcoal.
Though I have made big yellow bulbs that can produce heat through electricity but when the electricity supply isn't stable I had to settle for the charcoal. It's very simple way....
- Splitted some wooden charcoal into a pot that I am not using anymore.
- Light it till it catches fire.
- Then fan it repeatedly till the fire spread all over the charcoal.
- When it the fire has spreads.
- I placed it in the middle of the pen by the pot on a moulded block.
Reason why I used used pot instead of coalpot.
The reason why I used used pot instead of coalpot is that,it's safer to use pot because every charcoal will burn down to aches in the pot without the hot ashes touching the litter materials. Using coalpot is dangerous because some of the first that break out from the charcoal can drop on the litter materials (sawdust) since they are shredded woods which can cause the whole pen to catch up fire.
