You won 150 million EUR with the lottery, “Don’t even tell your kids”

Vultures

Yesterday, a Belgian person won 149 million EUR with the Euromillions lottery. Today a spokesperson of the lottery reacted on that in the newspaper.

The biggest issue with such big numbers is to keep quiet about it. It is pivotal to not even tell your kids, only your partner. Or you risk to be contacted with all sorts of individuals who will try to gat a piece of the pie, in any possible way.

It is definitely not a good idea to let everybody know you have won such a sum of money. History has shown that doing that will not end well. Bankruptcy, divorce and even suicide has been the case in the past. “Vultures” go all in on you and will try everything to get a bit of the money. More than 75 procent of the winners that won more than a 100 million EUR went bankrupt in the first 5 years after going public about it.

What is the point?

The big question with all this is, what is the point in playing if you can’t enjoy the money. You can not even change your lifestyle without revealing you have suddenly got a substantially bigger estate…

That’s why I don’t do lotteries, in my opinion your life is over after winning such a thing. Your friends, family and living situation can nog stay the same if you want to enjoy it. Which isn’t good for your mental sanity. It is better to become gradually wealthier than in an instance. Then you can slowly change your lifestyle and keep your friends and family…

It is what we call a poisonous gift!

Sincerely,

Definitely a poisonous gift, you'll have to continue living normally despite having won such amount of money. Maybe saving and investing the money and then gradually changing your lifestyle will help make the transition less sudden and attention grabbing, I think.
