Where are the "Yellow Vests" when you need them? The energy crisis needs public unrest!
Prices spiraling out of control
Yesterday, On Sunday!, the prices of natural gas once again reached an all time high in Europe. You can expect a few more of these record breaking events to happen in the next weeks. But to my surprise, there is no unrest in the streets! Is is because it is still summer, and the people are half asleep because of the holidays just passed? Or are they tamed by the Covid-19 scare that was slammed upon them in the last 2 years? Still, it is very weird that the streets aren't full of protesters against the out of control spiraling gas and electricity prices. Gas is now 12 times as expensive as it was 12 months ago, and electricity is 5 times the price it was 5 years ago. You don't have be a mathematician or have an MBA in Economics to know that this is going to hurt the entire economy immensely in the upcoming months.
The Yellow Vest movement
Before the Corona pandemic there was a huge movement that started in France in 2018 against the lowering of the speed limit to 80 kilometers per hour, but it grew immensely when fuel prices rose significantly. They kept protesting for over 2 years, until the Corona pandemic stopped them.
Now, fuel prices are even higher, and gas and electricity cost a fortune, but still no sign of them. It is a matter of time before they come back to the streets. And the politicians feel that, they are trying to move mountains to freeze gas and electricity prices on a European level. And are using Norway to do that. As Norway is no member of the European Union, but is one of the biggest producers and transporters of natural gas. But, it is an impossible task to get 30 member states in the same direction. If it will happen at all, it won't be in the first few months. So in the meanwhile, people see heating, hot water and electricity take out more and more of their budget. This tinderbox just needs a spark. And I have a feeling that spark will come... in France once again. The Yellow Vests are bound to return. The only question is... when!
I hope pretty soon, as we need civil unrest to get this madness to stop!
Sincerely,

i think it will just get worse. Most of people are facing huge difficulties due to inflation and extreme gas prices while at the same time the vast majority of oil companies have historical record profits.

The prices won't go lower so long as the environmentalists want to push for clean energy at all costs with no alternatives. In a way, they don't care how much we will have to suffer.
