UEFA Champions League more unpredictable than ever!

Stade Brestois

The people that have predicted this current top 8 halfway through the League Phase of the UEFA Champions League would have been declared crazy before the start.

No Bayern Munich, Juventus, Manchester City nor Real Madrid in the top 8. And black swan and debutant Stade Brestois is! I am sure this is not what the UEFA intended with this new format. The bigger teams would survive after more games. But that doesn’t seem to be the case. Which makes it paradoxically more interesting for the neutral supporters.

In short, a win for the supporters and a loss for UEFA. Where have we heard such a story before?

Sincerely,

Pele23

I actually kind of start liking this new system, because in the old one, you had to play twice with the same team. This new system brings a bit of (a lot of) unprecidtability. You can't calculate that even a lose 0:1 will be good, because you've already beated this opponent 2:0 back home. Now you have no second chance to beat the same oponent. Crazy. Let's see.

I was very skeptical at first, but indeed, it seems to bring more tension, and more interesting games. All teams, at least almost all, will have to play for the qualification until the last game!
