World Smile Day + Día Mundial de la Sonrisa [Eng+Spa]

Friday night, the work week ends, but when you work from home that doesn't make much difference (personal smile). Today has been calm, with a bit cold and humid weather, that doesn't help with my joint discomfort, but it's not something serious enough for me to complain a lot about it. I simply take things easy in my #life.

Since there is nothing interesting to share on personal topics, let's better comment on the anniversary of #History that titles today's post. It is a celebration proposed in 1999, by the American designer Harvey Ball (creator of the 'Smiley Face') for which it will be held every first Friday in October. This year the 'World Smile Day' is celebrated today, October 6.

Viernes en la noche, termina la semana laboral, pero cuando trabajas desde casa eso no hace mucha diferencia (sonrisa personal). El día de hoy ha sido calmado, de clima un poco frío y húmedo, eso no ayuda con mis molestias articulares, pero no es algo tan grave como para que me queje mucho al respecto. Simplemente, me tomo las cosas con calma en mi #vida.

Como no hay nada interesante que compartir en los temas personales, mejor pasemos a comentar sobre la efeméride de la #Historia que titula el post de hoy. Se trata de una celebración propuesta en 1999, por el diseñador norteamericano Harvey Ball (creador de la ‘Smiley Face’) para qué se realizará cada primer viernes de octubre. En este año el ‘Día Mundial de la Sonrisa’ se celebra hoy, 6 de octubre.

Ball died in 2001, but his initiative was maintained over time thanks to the World Smile Foundation, a non-profit foundation that Ball had created with the idea of supporting initiatives in favor of children. I think this man's idea was to maintain the purest smiles for as long as possible, after all, smiles (when they are beneficial) are a manifestation of happiness.

I was looking through the site a little and I liked the idea of one of the images they had there, one that said in its text something like 'Do something good to make someone smile'. That would be very nice if it became a widespread practice, after all, it would make the world a nicer place.

I once read that humans are the only species that can #smile, not only because of what happens as part of social interaction, but also because of memories or imagination. Well, it seems that other great primates can smile at their congeners, but it has not been possible to demonstrate that they do so in other circumstances, which is the case with humans. Sometimes we smile at others out of simple courtesy, on other occasions we smile sincerely at other people, it also happens that some pleasant memory makes us smile when we are alone, and it can happen that an idea of a pleasant future makes us smile. In short, we humans smile when we are happy.

I don't think I have more to say, so while the day is over and the celebration is over, it's well worth celebrating your smile every day you can. After all, it's nicer to smile, and it may open more doors and opportunities for you. So, I say now goodbye, hoping that you smile a lot, that you are well and that we can read again another time.

Yo revisaba un poco el sitio y me gustó la idea de una de las imágenes que tenían allí, una que decía en su texto algo como ‘Haz algo bueno para hacer sonreír a alguien’. Eso sería muy grato si se convirtiera en una práctica generalizada, después de todo, haría que el mundo fuera un sitio más agradable.

Alguna vez leí que los humanos somos la única especie que puede sonreír, no solo por lo que sucede como parte de la interacción social, sino también por los recuerdos o la imaginación. Bien, parece que otros grandes primates pueden sonreír a sus congéneres, pero no se ha podido demostrar que lo hacen en otras circunstancias, cosa que sí ocurre con los humanos. En ocasiones sonreímos a otros por simple cortesía, en otras ocasiones sonreímos con sinceridad a otras personas, también pasa que algún recuerdo grato nos saca #sonrisas cuando estamos solos, y puede pasar que una idea de un futuro agradable nos haga sonreír. En fin, que los humanos sonreímos al ser felices.

Creo que ya no tengo más que decir, así que, si bien el día termina y la celebración se concluye, bien vale la pena celebrar la #sonrisa todos los días que puedas. A fin de cuentas, es más grato sonreír y puede que te abra más puertas y oportunidades. Así que, ya me despido, deseando que sonrías mucho, que estés bien y que nos podamos leer de nuevo en otra oportunidad.

Well this is a lovely and positive day! I've never heard of it before today, but it sounds great! I can say that when I used to work with capuchin monkeys as a child, that they could not only smile, but also laugh. It was pretty wonderful! 😁 🙏 💚 ✨ 🤙

I didn't know the information about capuchin monkeys, although I had read that laughing was an action that could be observed in different types of primates and monkeys.

Yes, I've read that about different primate too. It was a big surprise to me as a child to see it in person. There was one that I used to tickle under his arms, and he'd laugh like crazy! It was hilarious! 😁 🙏 💚 ✨ 🤙
