International Octopus Day + Día Internacional del Pulpo [Eng+Spa]

Sunday rest. That has been my day today, calmly, and without complications, trying to feel better than yesterday, when I was feeling sick, and it is better that I recover to move forward in the work week that begins tomorrow. The weather in this part of the year is relatively cold, at least for this region, outside of those things, there is nothing new to talk about my #life.

It's already night, and I'd better complete my writing before midnight hits and Sunday is over. I wanted to share today some comments about an anniversary in #History that has to do with a certain marine #animal that is very interesting, today (October 8) is 'International Octopus Day', or maybe it could be called World Octopus Day. #Octopus.

Domingo de descanso. Ese ha sido mi día durante el día de hoy, con calma, y sin complicaciones, tratando de sentirme mejor que ayer, que estaba sintiéndome enfermo y es mejor que me recupere para seguir adelante en la semana laboral que comienza mañana. El clima en esta parte del año es relativamente frío, al menos para esta región, fuera de esas cosas, no hay nada nuevo que contar de mi #vida.

Ya es de noche, y es mejor que complete la redacción antes de que me llegue la medianoche y ya se termine el domingo. Quería compartir hoy unos comentarios sobre una efeméride de la #Historia que tiene que ver con un cierto #animal marino que resulta bien interesante, hoy (8 de octubre) es el ‘Día Internacional del Pulpo’, o puede que se diga Día Mundial del #Pulpo.

In any case, what I want to highlight is that it is a day chosen to celebrate these peculiar creatures. And I can say that the little I know about octopuses makes calling them peculiar somewhat accurate. You see, let's start with the matter that they have three hearts, they lack an internal skeleton (but they have a beak in their mouth to break the shells of their food), they have a surprising regenerative capacity, since they can regenerate their tentacles if they suffer severe damage. By the way, each tentacle has a set of neural tissues that seem to function as if they were auxiliary brains...

So, this animal would have something like a central brain and 8 secondary brains, working in parallel to execute its agile movements, activate and modify its mimicry capabilities (since it can change its appearance and color like a chameleon), and as a final characteristic It must be said that they are extraordinarily intelligent, with so many brains that is not so strange.

De la manera que sea, lo que quiero resaltar es que es un día escogido para celebrar a estas peculiares criaturas. Y puedo decir que lo poco que sé sobre los pulpos hace que llamarlos peculiares sea algo acertado. Tú verás, comencemos con el asunto de que tiene tres corazones, carecen de esqueleto interno (pero tienen un pico en su boca para romper las conchas de su comida), tienen una sorprendente capacidad regenerativa, ya que pueden regenerar sus tentáculos si sufren daños severos, por cierto, cada tentáculo tiene un conjunto de tejidos neurales que parecen funcionar como si fueran cerebros auxiliares…

Entonces, este animal tendría algo así como que un cerebro central y 8 cerebros secundarios, trabajando en paralelo para ejecutar sus ágiles movimientos, activar y modificar sus capacidades de mimetización (pues puede cambiar su apariencia y color como un camaleón), y como característica final, hay que decir que son extraordinariamente inteligentes, con tantos cerebros eso no es algo tan raro.

Lo que más recuerdo en inicio con estos animales es los documentales de vida marina que yo solía ver de niño, así que la fecha me trajo nostalgias. Este GIF es gracioso, aunque un poco perturbador, pues creo que el pulpo grande está preparando takoyaki, un platillo japonés de bolas de masa rellenas de carne de pulpo.

Es una criatura muy interesante en todas sus variantes. Si no mal recuerdo, había uno en particular que podía imitar y disfrazarse de otras criaturas como método de defensa.
