It's Friday night, August 2nd, and I almost missed my daily post. I was a little unwell, nothing serious, just a feeling of discomfort that put me out of action for several hours. I just sat down at the computer, and I'm going to write the post before I run out of time. The good thing is that I had already selected the topic for the post earlier.
My post today focuses on commenting on an international celebration that fits well with the meaning of Friday in a good part of my western hemisphere (personal smile). And although it has to do with a #food topic, it is very specifically about a #drink that I believe is classified as the most popular (and consumed) liquor in the world. Today is International Beer Day.

Although I am not a big #liquor drinker. It turns out that this Friday night brings back memories of when, decades ago, I would go out with my college friends on a Friday night to have a drink before going home. Then come the memories of the same thing when I was working at the University. In such cases, #beer was part of the ritual of sharing moments.
Also, my closest brother worked for years in one of the largest brewing companies in the country. In fact, it was his first job and that also brings back memories.
Although I am not a big #liquor drinker. It turns out that this Friday night brings back memories of when, decades ago, I would go out with my college friends on a Friday night to have a drink before going home. Then come the memories of the same thing when I was working at the University. In such cases, #beer was part of the ritual of sharing moments.
Also, my closest brother worked for years in one of the largest brewing companies in the country. In fact, it was his first job and that also brings back memories.

When I reviewed the history of the selection of the day, I found that it is recent. It was in 2007 that Jesse Avshalomov, Evan Hamilton, Aaron Araki and Richard Hernandez; three friends from Santa Cruz (California, United States) began to promote in a bar the idea of celebrating a day for their favorite drink. The idea was to celebrate it on the closest Friday, which was August 5.
The idea was well received and became a trend on social media and in friendship circles. To the point that the following year a proposal was made, and it was declared an official holiday with public support. After that it spread, and today there is a consensus in various data sources that this holiday is observed in 50 countries.
By the way, in 2012 there was an important change, it was established that the date was now a date to be celebrated on the first Friday of August, regardless of what number of the calendar day it was.
The idea was well received and became a trend on social media and in friendship circles. To the point that the following year a proposal was made, and it was declared an official holiday with public support. After that it spread, and today there is a consensus in various data sources that this holiday is observed in 50 countries.
By the way, in 2012 there was an important change, it was established that the date was now a date to be celebrated on the first Friday of August, regardless of what number of the calendar day it was.

The current celebration is largely due to its adoption by large beer companies in various countries, it is different from traditional beer festivals, some of which already have several centuries of history.
Personally, I think that this old drink, created approximately more than 12,000 years ago, has its own charm. There are so many varieties and recipes that I find it fascinating, of course there are great types of beer, but that would be a reason for another post.
By the way, as an irony, I think that the archaeological evidence indicates that the origin of beer has to do with the creation of bread, in the ancient territory of present-day Iran, which then took it to other places, such as Ancient Egypt. And I point out that it is ironic because I think that currently in these countries this drink falls into the category of things forbidden (or at least frowned upon) by religious leaders.

Estoy en la noche del viernes, 2 de agosto, y casi se me pasa la publicación diaria. Estaba un poco mal de salud, nada grave, solo un malestar que me sacó de circulación pro varias horas. Acabo de sentarme en la computadora y voy a redactar el post antes de que se me acabe el tiempo. Lo bueno es que ya tenía seleccionado el tema de la publicación desde más temprano.
Mi registro de hoy se centra en comentar sobre una celebración internacional que encaja bien con el sentido de Día Viernes en buena parte de mi hemisferio occidental (sonrisa personal), y aunque tienen que ver con un tema de #comida, se trata muy específicamente de una #bebida que creo que está clasificada como el licor más popular (y consumido) del mundo. Hoy es el Día internacional de la Cerveza.

Aunque no soy un gran bebedor de licor. Sucede que esto de ser viernes en la noche, me trae recuerdos de cuando, hace décadas, salía con compañeros de la Universidad un viernes en la noche a tomar un poco antes de irme a casa. Luego vienen los recuerdos de lo mismo cuando estaba trabajando en la Universidad. En tales casos, la #cerveza constituía una parte del ritual de compartir momentos.

La celebración actual se debe en gran medida a su adopción por parte de grandes empresas cerveceras de varios países, es diferente a los festivales tradicionales de la cerveza, algunos de los cuales ya cuentan con varios siglos de historia.
En lo personal, pienso que esta vieja bebida, creada hace aproximadamente más de 12000 atrás, tiene su propio encanto. Hay tantas variedades y recetas que me resulta fascinante, claro que hay grandes tipologías de cervezas, pero eso sería motivo para otro post.
Por cierto, como ironía, creo que las evidencias arqueológicas indican que el origen de la cerveza tiene que ver con creación del pan, en el antiguo territorio del actual Irán, que luego la llevaron a otros sitios, como el antiguo Egipto. Y señalo que es una ironía porque creo que actualmente en estos países esta bebida cae en el rubro de cosas vetadas, o cuando menos mal vistas por los líderes religiosos.
En fin, ya me despido, deseándote que tú estés bien, que bebas algo refrescante (poder ser cerveza), y que nos podamos leer en otra oportunidad.

Recuerdo que en algunas partes se tomaba caliente a temperatura de ambiente y que para probar si era de buena calidad, derramabas cerveza en el asiento y te sentabas encima, si el banco o asiento se pegaba al pantalón se consideraba como una buena cerveza.
Recuerdo también esa prueba, yo la encontré interesante, pero no la incluí en el post :)
También está el caso de que se tomaba en verano para refrescar, pero en el invierno se servía caliente para combatir el frío. Eso lo encontré también interesante.
