BREAST CANCER - WHAT I KNOW ABOUT IT

Breast cancer is a disease so many of us have heard about, yet we know so little about It. So knowing the right information about it can help us and also save lives. Let's start with the little I know about breast cancer.

It's a tumor that grows in the breast that can affect both men and women but it's more common in women. Some of the signs that can show someone has breast cancer include lumps, nipple bringing out discharge, and changes in the shape of the breast. One of the factors that can increase the risk of developing breast cancer is a family history of breast cancer.

I got to know these little things about breast cancer when I accompanied a friend of mine to the hospital who had a lump in her breast it was painful for her and before then her mum also had surgery and removed a lump from her breast. That's when I got to know that if you detect breast cancer early it can be treated successfully because the doctor told us that if she hadn't come early it would have led to serious complications. She was booked for surgery and the lump was removed successfully. Some people will notice a lump in their breast and think it's normal till it gets out of hand and lead to complications.

I also had a neighbor then, who died of breast cancer because when she noticed lump in her breast, instead of her to go the hospital for examination and check up, she went to the church and pastor gave her water to drink that it would make the lump disappear. I don't know how that it's going to work out though but it eventually led to complications.

The doctor also told us to always go for a check up especially when we have any risk factors and self-examination of our breasts by checking for any lump by raising our hands and checking the breasts properly.

Breast Cancer is a serious issue and we must do our part in learning and educating ourselves and taking action for our health. Early detection can save our lives.
