The well-being rituals I follow and how they impact my life.
I wouldn't lie, I'm not a very health-conscious and fit person. I have many unhealthy habits like compromising my sleep, skipping meals, etc.
But there are things I try to follow to keep my mind and body in balance. It feels good to see this topic being asked in this group because it gave me a chance to reevaluate my health journey.
There are some intentional things I follow, that I can tag as rituals. But they are not like the so-called active rituals I follow daily. But I try my best to give my mind and body something so it can feel good.
Early morning silence
I start my day with a 5 minutes silence before my family members wake up. Sometimes have a cup of tea/coffee in silence.
Why?
It gives me enough time to plan for the day, and reduce the stress and rush of the morning. And I feel more focused for the day, it's a good start to the day.
Having healthy food
After my recovery from some major health issues on couple of years back, I became intentional about my food intake. I usually avoid junk, and oily food, and try to eat fresh, healthy food.
Why?
It gives my mind and body a better feeling. It lightens my body and I usually don't feel bloated and heavy like before.
Doing some movements
I'm not a gym girl nor do I do regular exercises. But I'm an active person. That means I do walk, do house chores, free hand exercises when I get time. All this takes away a good amount of my time and I feel active.
Why?
This activity reduces stiffness. As I spend around 8 hours in the office doing this activity keeps my body going, I feel good blood flow and good breath, and it brings a good mood.
Keeping myself away from the screen
As a full-time job holder, I spend a good amount of time on screen. So when I get home I try to give my time and attention to my family members and reduce my screen time.
Why?
It helps to digital detox, connects me with my family better, and helps to have better sleep.
Mindfulness
Praying, keeping my eyes closed and being mindful, living in the present situation, and reading something daily, or if not then every other day gives me a better grip on my mind. I try to include it daily, if fails, at least a few times a week.
Why?
It helps improve my mindset for the day, it keeps me in reality check, more grounded, and appreciative about what's going on in life.
To be honest, there are some days when I can't do any of this and feel worse. And there are days when I do many healthy rituals. They sure keep my day up.
Wellbeing is not a rigid theory that we have to follow certain patterns but it's flexible to what we can adopt according to our life. At least this is what I believe.
I should be more health conscious and do more for my well-being. I'm not perfect but finding a path that I can follow.
