RE: Are we getting noisier? Tracking hive's posting activity

Hey @cryptothesis, it's great that you enjoy seeing new users join the platform and are clearly very keen to see the Hive community grow. I see the correlation you're making between BTC price climbs and user related activity on the platform, that usually happens, particularly as many people are eagerly anticipating a bull run so more people will be sniffing around crypto right now. If we do get a bull run expect a lot more people to become interested in Hive.

I joined Hive two months ago and I have been both pleasantly amazed and disappointed in equal measure. Hive clearly is a uniquely innovative platform with a huge amount of potential but I question how much of the support for people's content is purely organic. I can see that so many people will publish a post knowing they are guaranteed votes no matter what they are posting about, irrespective of originality, impetus and quality.

In a bid to grow my stake I have so far bought around 1100 Hive and powered it up. I delegate most of my Hive to help with vote support and build my stake so I can get to a position where my vote really does have value. It would have been nice not to have done it this way but when I reflect on how much effort and time I have ploughed into my work on Hive with the posts I have published it can be a soul destroying experience when I see the post payout figures.

I have been advised that I'm not doing myself any favours by delegating out most of my HP. I have attempted to explain to people why I have been forced to delegate to grow my stake. I see that you too also have been delegating most of your 13k stake, so a lot more than me. Although I note you are currently in the process of cancelling your current delegations.

As someone who has delegated most of your stake, as I have done albeit with a much smaller amount, should this really be frowned upon or not?

I am relatively new to this platform and I am putting in 1000% effort not just with my posts but also getting involved with other people's work and building relations where I can, but my word it's not easy.

So at least Hive is attracting new people, I'm not quite sure how many new users are signing up though, and yes I agree with you it would be nice to obtain that data. I think we are a thriving and engaged community but it all feels very incestuous, it seems the thriving is about establishing 'arrangements' and little else.

What are your thoughts?

Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

I am cancelling my delegation as I was doing that to earn LEO.

I found that delegating to earn upvotes isn't that impactful. Better to post good contents. I think signing as a premium INLEO user could also be a good move. They would help curate your posts.

I am impressed with your enthusiasm.
