Wow
Wow. Not the game, or any other acronym; just the expression that could sum up the last weekend.
A congress in the northern part of the country was the perfect excuse to travel and meet up with friends; some newer, some older, some even older! The timing was just right: lectures on Friday and Saturday, leaving the rest of the weekend to be enjoyed without having to worry about rushing back home. The location, even better: I have a couple of friends that are now living in Porto, and another couple that just moved to a small village just half an hour away from Porto. Friendships need to be cherished, and enjoying a dinner and some time catching up on conversation is a great way to do it! And trust me, food in the northern region is usually great!
I was still alone here, but this was one of the best bacalhau com broa (codfish with bread crumbs) that I have ever tasted! I decided to drive to Porto the day before the congress, so I wouldn't have to start attending lectures after a 3h car ride.
Although the social part of the weekend was what I was antecipating the most, the congress itself was great. Dumb me chose a profession that requires constant studying, and these congresses are a great way to learn new stuff and revive some knowledge.
The cherry on top of the congress: I always find a ton of old colleagues, and this year wasn't an exception. One of them is responsible for the first photo: Wow is also an acronyom for World of Wine, where there was a party in the evening, a party I was immediatly invited to; and that little coin was the ticket to free drinks at the bar! (me and @xrayman probably took a little more advantage of it than we should... but what happens in Porto, stays in Porto! 😉)
That party was a great way to finish the evening that started with a great dinner with the couple living in Porto: a korean BBQ! My first time, but probably not the last! Too bad they had to get up really early the next morning, or they would have been partying with us at Wow too... maybe next time!
After another congress day, it was time to meet the other couple, have another great dinner... and enjoy their hospitality, since me and @xrayman stayed at their house for the night - there was a special tradition the following day!
You see, when that couple lived nearby, we developed the habit of having breakfast at Sundays, where we talked about crypto and everything else; we called it cryptotoasts for fun, since one of the places where we used to have breakfast made huge toasts! Since we were all missing those gatherings, this weekend was perfect for a northern cryptotoast... that ended up being a brunch that would make most brunch places envious! Here's a sneak peak:
The only thing "bad" about the weekend? It felt too short. Too little time spent with friends we wanted to spend more time with. More and more these are the moments I want to repeat, because they are the moments that bright up our lives; after all... what's life without friends?
So yeah... Wow! 😊

Great overview of a great weekend! IMHO besides the company of our friends and old acquaintances, the food was for sure a extra point on the memorable time that I spent in Porto!
Looking forward to next opportunities 😀
Hopefully sooner than later! ;)
Fingers crossed for that!

All these foods look so delicious now that it's winter I've also had soup a while back.
Still Autumn here ;)
The food looks very wow indeed! Must have been a fun event, congresses obviously don´t have to be boring :D

This one wasn't boring for sure! Although I have to confess I skipped a couple of lectures in exchange for catching up with some friends... easy choice! :) Thank you and cheers! !BEER
