The sand and the sea

Not that there was any doubt on the subject... but travelling is one of the best things in life.

Getting back from a new country, it never ceases to awe me how different life can be just a one and a half hour flight away.

Memories are still fresh, but some of the snapshots taken fit perfectly in a #monomad challenge; such as the expression of our desert guide, searching the horizon for a sunrise hidden among the clouds.

I had heard quite a few things about Morocco, some good, some not so. And honestly, I had a hard time finding the not so good ones. As it is usual nowadays, most good or bad stuff gets a bit blown out of proportions; that's why it is so good to travel, see and experience things by ourselves, and draw our own conclusions.

The people are friendly, the food is delicious, and some of the settings and locations I've visited seem straight out of a movie... or like in the picture above, they were used as the movie setting!

Experiencing a walk in the desert, with scorching heat and strong winds, is also a different experience. Makes you wonder how people can thrive in these arid environments! Humans are definitely an adaptable species.

The heat is also present in most cities. The temperatures in Marrakesh during my stay probably hovered around the 40sºC, and although the narrow streets of the medina (the old city) made the heat a little more bearable, most heat-sensitive people wouldn't feel that great, probably.

Good thing is, the country is great, and so are the contrasts. In the beautiful coastal village I've visited, the wind was a constant present, but the temperatures were a lot more bearable.

Eating sand on the beach wasn't exactly a great experience, but any wind spots lover would feel in heaven here. And judging by the amount of wings in the sky, there were plenty of them here! For the ones looking for some quietness, strolling along the beach and witnessing some of the typical scenes in a place where fishing is one of the main activities should be enough for a day well spent.

It was my first visit to the country, but I've left a ton of things to explore! Probably in a near future...
