My kind of paradises

Searching through different possible destinations for my future vacations, reminded me the kind of settings I'm looking after. No doubt, I like some days of pure relaxation, where your only worries is not getting a sunburn, and wether you drink another caipirinha or not. But most of my vacations, I like them to be more on the active side, the more walking and exploring the better. And yes, it matters where those explorations take place.

Imponent buildings? Pass.

Tons of people? Naaah.

Art and culture? No more than the bare minimum.

Trees, rivers, jungles, forests, animals all over the place? Yes please!!

We tend to have less and less time in nature, and I do believe we need it more and more. There's something about being in the middle of wilderness that boosts your mood!

Each continent has its different ecossystems; I'm a lucky guy, because I love basically every kind, just as long it has lots of greenery. And no, it doesn't have to be in a tropical paradise as these three photos, in central America. Europe has stunning forests too! Want some examples? How about the incredibly beautiful Plitvice National park, in Croatia?

Or the beautiful hiking trails in Madeira, Portugal?

Did you spot the waterfall, among the trees?

Been a while since I had a decent walk in a nature trail, and can't wait to do it again. True, the amount of wildlife is probably a little less in these forest than in the tropical jungle (or maybe more visible in the latter?), but the sights are equally great.

One more from Portugal?

Gotta love the volcanic islands, right? We sometimes think of going abroad, without realising there are so many incredible places in our own country!

Yes, guilty of that too, I love to go abroad... and just because of that, will share a couple more glimples of paradise. And will also change continents! Off to Asia, a continent I hope to visit in a near future!

This is one of the views that i remember so clearly, especially because of the adventure that followed shortly after! But that's a story for another ocasion. Now, it's all about the views.

I am aware that for some people, wondering around in these places is a nightmare; but for me, this is where I thrive!

And you, are you a city person... or a nature one? :)

Stunningly beautiful nature! I especially liked the picture of the lake in the middle of the forest. How are the animals?

The lake one was taken in Pico, an island in the Açores archipelago. I didn't saw that much wildlife to be honest, but there's quite a few endemic species in these islands, such as the azorean chaffinch; even for the landscapes alone, well worth the visit!

We seem to enjoy the same type of landscape, forests, wildlife, seclusion, and the fewer people the better. The reason I live in the middle of nowhere is for all of the above and for the peacefulness that washes over me every day.

Experiencing everything that nature has to offer gives me a high like nothing else.

Gorgeous shots 👍 I'm probably a country boy. Into nature but local nature. I like to go deep. Really get to know the area around where I live. Crazy spring right now. We had a very young fawn near the garden last night. A robin is nesting with babies right outside our screened in porch. The loon pair on the lake has a new chick as of yesterday. All right here but you have to slow down and be attentive to see it.

In summer, these places look more beautiful. Going here gives you some peace of mind because the temperature of our city is running at 50 at that time.
