Zac, hi Zac! Someone was calling me at the door...,

...and I wondered why the person wouldn't rather knock. So I went to the door, but it wasn't a person that wanted to see me.

It was a little Swee Waxbill, and he had a request. I want to ask your permission to scout around here in your back garden for us to build a nest?.

We saw the little swee couple in our back garden during the week, and not many birds come into the garden, as it has very high walls. Of course, we were delighted to see them, as they are too small to eat the geckos and besides, they are seed eaters. But this day it was different, as it seemed that they were intent on introducing themselves to us.
Come and see what happened.

I made a deal with Swee, as I gave him permission to find a spot for their nest as long as he would allow me to take photos of their search.
Swee swung around and shouted, Babe, you can come out of hiding, as Zac gave us the okay.
069.JPG

Before you start the search Swee, I said, maybe the lemon tree will be your best bet.

But Babe is a woman, and you know what woman are like, as what they want, and us men want are miles apart.
Swee, she said, I am so glad that they don't catch birds to put inside this big cage.

Swee landed and he said, Babe, Sparrow told me that this is their emergency cage and crow junior was the last bird that they saved in this cage after that bad storm that broke his wing.

Babe flew over to another spot and Swee, irritated, shouted, Babe, I told you Zac said that the lemon tree is our best bet for a nest.
083.JPG

But I think that Babe was wearing earplugs, as she continued to look at other spots.

Oh yeah, she jumped around all over the place.
087.JPG

Swee jumped into the lemon tree and sat watching Babe going around. Of course, thinking that she was a bit bonkers.
094.JPG

Finally, Babe landed in the lemon tree and she said, Swee, the lemon tree will indeed be ideal for us to build a nest.
But, as usual, you are a silly man, as I was going around to view the lemon tree from all angles, to see if a predator would be able to see our nest in the lemon tree!

Swee hung his head and humbly apologized to Babe.

Finally, I think that the lemon tree will soon have a happy family living in it.

Such is life, as I always say. I have laid out here the differences between men and women, and I have to admit that even at my age I still get it wrong. I cannot understand what it is with us guys, as surely we all know that when a woman tells us to wait for a minute, she in fact means that her take on a minute is usually from 20 minutes to half an hour, and sometimes even longer. She says that she is popping into the shop to get some fresh milk and bread, and she comes out of the shop, pushing half of the shop's contents in a trolley. Oh, she says with a big smile, I have picked up some bargains.
In the meantime, you have been waiting in the car for a long time, and the hot sun was boiling your brains.

Nope, I have exaggerated a little bit, but I think that you get my drift. We merely reconcile our differences, and we love our women because we are different. Without them we would be lost and eventually we learn to accept things as they are. Let's face it, women are way more intelligent than men, as far as emotions are concerned. Maybe also in other things and my mother that raised us single handedly remains to be my hero. May she RIP.

I hope that you enjoyed the pictures and the story. I wish to give my heartfelt thanks to all of those that always read my stories.

This is the sweetest! I love the narrative that you added. I am jealous though as in the 15 years or so living in the Cape I only saw these waxbills only once! They are so scarce in my garden. Stunning photographs!

Thank you and we are blessed to have the new tenants.

No need to be jealous, as they were there in your garden hiding in the leaves. But you couldn't spot them, as your eyes were clouded with love. Now let me tell you young man that love can do funny things to one. Please take care when you drive, as romantic dreams can make you lose your direction and you might end up in one of the neighboring countries. !LOL

So true haha! She clouds my vision so much, but all for the good. We have hiked (got lost) at so many beautiful places because of her. Also so many beautiful places she has taken me in my blindness.

Isn't that always the case! In Afrikaans, we always say "Sy is my beter helfde".

Love blinds as I said, but they say that if you turn your head 90 degrees left, then after 5 times the cobwebs clear from your mind.
Not really, as I am joking and don't come to me with your doctor bills for a sprained neck !LOL
She is indeed your better half, and she knows it. All woman does.

If we don't see you guys before Christmas day, then we wish you, your better half and your families a Happy Christmas and a blessed New Year!

Thank you! I am glad that you liked the pictures, and the birds know that we are nature lovers.

Of course we all have to think about this and make a place for such birds to live inside our homes, it will also give us a lot of reward and the sounds of the birds that make the morning look so much more beautiful.

Those are some great pictures and some great screen play writing, maybe you chose the wrong profession! You got some great shots, how close would they let you get?

Women... I understand completely. One second can be an hour at times, but I've long since learned to smile and "yes dear". Not that my marriages lasted anyway! I just don't know how to pick them...

Thank you for the compliment, and I just like to put stories to my pictures. I got within 1 meter of them, but in the case of the lemon tree, I had to use a bit of the zoom.

True mutual love and understanding can beat many problems in a relationship, and I hope that your true soul mate is out there somewhere, waiting for you to find her when the time is right.

Blessings and have some !PIZZA
