Weird weather in the Cape of Storms.

So, do you think that there could be a mountain in the picture below?

065.JPG

Lately the weather seems to be playing games with us and I cannot imagine being in a small plane and flying through that cloud.
You will see in the photo below why I say this.
We had fine rain recently and at the same time floods occurred inland so the storm passed us by. This is not normal, as we always get hit by the storms before they travel inland.
It is still early and the winter rainy season has not started in full force yet, so we will wait and see what it brings.

Oh yes, there is indeed a big mountain in that cloud.
091.JPG

Tons of water stream down that valley during a storm. In the past, it used to flood our town below the mountain, but after the last flood they installed concrete channels to guide the water in the river to the ocean.
072.JPG

This is the river that I mentioned in the photo above, and during a storm it turns into a devastating water force.
098.JPG

It is the Hottentots Holland mountain range and we love to explore it.
161.JPG

There was the sign and in 2 days time we will have rain again.
060.JPG

Just a lovely late afternoon shot.
014.JPG

I focused on a flood theme today as there are so many other weaker parts in the country that are severely damaged by floods. Lives are lost and recently there was a terrible event in the KZN province, and people are still searching for bodies. Women and children were washed away by a mix of water and mud, and the survivors are desperately seeking for their families. So yes, Mother nature seems to be angry as there are also unknown occurrences by the weather in other countries.
I hope that you have liked the photos.

View of the mountain a highlight, hopefully a good week ahead, Port Elizabeth-Nelson Mandela Bay still in drought!

Tongaat borehole drilling by Gift of the Givers hopefully fresh source of water found after 24 days without.

Thank you and yes, that halo sign told me that we will have rain this week.
I have some good friends in PE and everyone there is on edge, as apparently they are heading towards zero water day.

Holding thumbs for them and have your water feed been normalized yet?

Still holding cooler weather in the mornings, lovely crisp air! PE sound like dire shortage of water soon, cities have all grown too quickly over the last 25 years with no forward planning in sight.

Water and electricity intermittent, driving horrendous for people going to work on freeways, yet with so much to do cable theft, hijacking, house invasions continue to rise!

Yep, the same here in the mornings.
During Covid they banned evictions or whatever they call it and the invaders are very clever as they sold stands for housing in a protected nature reserve over here. The trick is to sell many stands first, as then it becomes a mass invasion overnight.
So now, all of the fynbos is gone and it's no longer a reserve.

We are facing a mountain of problems in this country and I don't know if we will ever be able to scale the heights.

So now

Future, what future? Selling open cast mining rights to outside "investors", allowing people in over the borders with little to no control, no we will never scale the heights after the massive rape of the land at this stage.

Covid was used worldwide to test a program in control over the masses, all they have brought is starvation and hunger, perhaps this is modern culling of humans?

Once again I say that it's all about the money Lady Joan.
Does "Our Time to Eat" sound familiar? A pity that it's only individuals that enrich themselves and not sharing it with those that go hungry to bed in a tin shack at night.

So many Covid ideas floating around and somewhere I read that it is population growth control.
But I don't think that we will ever know the real truth in our lifetime.
One thing that I do know is that the truth cannot be buried and sooner or later it will appear at the most inopportune moment.

Highly doubt we will ever live long enough to know the truth in matters. Actually keep head down, blinkers on and just do the little to help others have a slightly better life.

As often said before, Zac, your mountains look amazing and the clouds are the icing on the cake. I hope the rain doesn't come as hard as it had been before.

I have just thought that if all the snow we get during the winter would be rain, many valleys here might be lakes.

Thank you Hannes and the scientists reckon that that this is only the beginning and that can expect much worse from the weather to come.

That would indeed be a wonderful sight I think. Less people and more nature.

Cheers and thanks.

Yep, that's what they say, but scientists have been wrong before and we can hope they are also wrong now.

I haven't seen it that way yet - less people and more nature? I would love it 😁

Thank you and not very cold yet, as we are hovering at the 20C peak mark. Early morning and evenings drop to 9C, but it's not a problem for me.

You've managed to capture some amazing moments, especially in the last photo. I'm so sorry to hear flood is causing trouble over there. Unfortunately the power of water is unbeatable sometimes.

Thank you and glad that you liked it. The weather is slowly but surely increasing in violence across the world and more than 400 people died in that flood over here.
1 liter of water weighs 1 kilogram and the weight doubles when it's mixed with mud, so imagine the weight of tons of water coming down to damage the hill sides. The sludge simply destroys houses in it's way.

I remember a few years ago there was a muddy flood in Hungary, it was terrible. Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt visited the area and made a generous donation. Italy also used to have these as they have a lot of mountains there.

It's terrible knowing people have died.

Yeah I read about it and some years ago we also had the Merriespruit mudslide disaster. Many were killed and mudslides are very dangerous.
Always terrible my friend.

Take care and have some !PIZZA

Something similar happened on our side where @clairemobey was driving in towards Cape Town and on her approach you just could not see Table Mountain. It was completely obscured as though there was no mountain!

As always, superb photography Zac! Have a great day! !PIZZA

Eerie and magical mate. I love those sights as it always remind me of the power in nature.
Up in Belfast I had to sit in the car's bonnet with a torch to guide the driver due to the dense mist on the road. I could only see about 1 metre ahead.

Glad that you liked the post and keep yourself and the family safe Zak.
