We ventured up to a high spot today.

Tired of the same old, same old, here is a bit with a difference.
101.jpg

It was yet another one of those cloudy days, and one had to wait for the sun to break through to get some shots.

So, we traveled up the long road that you see in the pictures, in order to get to a high spot near the one mountain. At times, the sunlight will blitz through the clouds very sharply and at other times the clouds will control the light. As I said before, taking photos from the high spot required patience, as one had to wait for the wind to shift the clouds.
We are still trapped with the power cuts here, as currently, we have 3 power cuts per day. So we just have to work our way around things.

Here below is a bit of a closer look at the road.
097.JPG

Now let's turn our attention to them thar hills.
010.JPG

Sadly, the colors on my camera's screen look much sharper than they do on this PC.
030.JPG

The two photos below were taken when the sun broke through the cloud curtains.
091.JPG

093.JPG

And then the clouds darkened everything again.
017.JPG

050.JPG

This was the last colored shot that I could get in before the sun disappeared.
037.JPG

And below you can see why, as the clouds started to dominate the views.
001.JPG

Look how the clouds were wrapping the mountain, as we were traveling back down from the high spot.
088.JPG

So, I took my chances and I know that I got some good-looking landscapes, but luck is not always on one's side. There is no reason to fight, or curse the elements, as they were designed for purposes of their own. A far better way is to embrace them and to value their presence. Without water, there would be no life and to me clouds mean water. Maybe it was not going to rain here, but I am sure that those clouds were on their way to rain somewhere in our country. We are in a winter rainfall area and now in Autumn, our winter is waiting around the corner.

Whenever heavy storms create destruction and flooding in the inland provinces, they would blame us down here in the Cape for sending the storms to them, but in reality we have nothing to do with it, as the storms arrive from the Atlantic ocean. The ocean runs along our coast lines all the way around the Cape until it meets with the Indian ocean far down to the south at Cape Agulhas. Yes, the sea water is cold here and the Atlantic is famous for bad weather, but on the nice sunny days it is a real pleasure to have it here.

If you want to have a look at the Western Cape Province, here's a link.

From the top photography tells the story of nature in motion, always busy up between the mountains with air flow hither and tither.

Great outing with mood photos on the day, clouds shaping each in a different feel today. Power outages are taking a hold on many frayed nerves, always trying to catch up...

Have a wonderful Sunday!

Oh yes, you being so many times up to the Berg, has certainly shown you how the weather can change things.

Different moods is what I strive for, especially as we are all so different. I saw that Pfizer is being taken to court again about skipping the rules. That and the power cuts are a potent mix to poison anyone's sanity.

A nice and sunny Sunday until about 4pm, as then the clouds arrived. Hope that you guys also had a good Sunday.
Thank you also kindly for the tipu.

Clouds come and go, no rain still too warm for my liking.

So many things happening in the world, one bulks at how world leaders are screwing everything up, next generation will have a lot to sort out.

Had early morning rain here, but nothing since, Thankfully a nice cool wind for the rest of the day.

At times I wonder if there will be next generations, as we are screwing up big time now.

7 mm rain overnight what a pleasure after so many weeks without, crisp morning, hopefully now start the cooler days!

Disturbing seeing events unfurl throughout the world, times they are a changing.... A lot faster than one ever thought due to greed!

Yay, and so happy for you. We will have a few more hot days and rain on Friday, then hopefully that will be the sign for winter. Enjoy your lovely day.

Greed is definitely the big problem and profit is the driving force. We are in real trouble worldwide methinks.

People need to realize the man in the street is in trouble vs the rich, political and others making changes, not asking how it will affect the majority. It's a case of "We Are OK Jack" attitude!

I love high vantage points and you have found some very nice views, my friend, beautiful photos 😀
I love clouds and rain clouds and I know that they mean water and water means life ... I just don't like to get wet 😉

Mine was only a road vantage spot and nothing as spectacular as the ones that you can get by climbing onto the mountains. One day when my knee has been replaced, I also hope to climb mountains again.
But for now, I have to take what I can get 🙏

Hahaha, you are so right as I also try my best not to get wet. But we are both not so lucky at times, as Mother nature always tries her tricks on us 😜 !LOLZ

Cheers and thanks.

Well, you only see the front view but not what's behind be - sometimes I'm standing on the road, just like you 😂 !LOLZ
I didn't even get out of the car for this photo that I have taken on Sunday 😁

Sometimes you have to get wet to get the best photos - and Mother Nature has some fun teasing us 😉

Yeah, one has to be grateful to even have such sights, as so many don't care and some even flick their cars lights to get me out of the way in their hurry 😢 !LOLZ

That is another scoop shot and I will break my neck happily to get a shot at that. A lovely photo that you have here Hannes 😊

She laughs so much at seeing us wet and bedraggled, that her dwarfs have to bring her boxes of tissues to wipe the tears away 🤣🤣🤣

Cheers and thanks.

It was a very dark and rainy morning but sometimes the sun found a little gap - thanks that you like the photo, Zac 😃

Mother Nature should laugh much more but the humans make her cry all the time. Luckily, she has got the two of us who she can tease a little bit and who are able to make her even laugh to tears 😂 !LOLZ

It is a great photo Hannes, even if I say so again ❤️

Well we need to look around, as maybe us two are the only mad ones out there and somebody has to make Mother nature laugh. Even if it's only us 🤣 !LOLZ

Cheers and thanks.

Mother Nature pleases us with her beauty all the time, so I'm happy to let her tease me from time to time, and I think you too 😂 !LOLZ

Oh yeah, you are so right as she also teaches us to enjoy her tricks, especially as we both have learned to laugh at our mistakes and to laugh at ourselves 🤣 !LOLZ

I cannot tell you how many times I have called myself a stupid monkey, with apologies to monkeys, as they are not stupid 🤣🤣🤣

Cheers and thanks.

It's important to be able to laugh at our own mistakes.

Not the monkeys are stupid but we are the stupid monkeys 🤣 !LOLZ

Yep! At times we can do real stupid things, as just yesterday the screen of my camera showed only tiny pictures. Now I know how to restore the screen, but I forgot how to do it.
So, I go through the day with the problem and last night when I wanted to download the camera, I by accident press a small lever on my zoom and boom. The screen was restored, and had I not laughed at myself I would have cried 🤣 !LOLZ

Cheers and thanks.

Haha, I know that 😂 !LOLZ because it happened to me too, but all I needed was to ritate one of the adjusting wheels on the camera and the images turned big again, but when it happened first, I had no idea what to do 🤣

Glad that you know exactly what I am talking about and I fiddled around with every button on the camera with no luck. I even spent time to search in the camera menu displays, but no luck.
Then after a long time I pulled the lever on the zoom and I almost fell off my chair, as the picture was normal again. So funny 🤣 !LOLZ

Cheers and thanks.

Yep, I have an older point and shoot camera where you use the zoom ring to set the size of the images ... you have to read the manual to know this ... I never read the manual 😂 !LOLZ

Amazingly the same with my camera and I only discovered it now. My camera has WiFi which I have never used, and I presume that one can use that lever to make the photos smaller for easier transfers in WiFi. I will also read the manual one day methinks. When I am old and have the time to read it 🤣 !LOLZ

Cheers and thanks.

No, I don't think so - I think it's only to have a better overview of the photos when you see more than only one.
But I am sure there's a function to edit / resize the images in camera.

Manuals are for losers 🤣 !LOLZ

Okay, maybe I am wrong, but I don't mind as I don't use the WiFi on the camera.
I am also sure that there is an editing function somewhere, but that's for people who send their photos directly from the camera. Like journalists and such.

Hahaha, the best way is to make mistakes as that is a perfect teaching tool. So I agree about the manuals and I now have a box full of them that I will donate to someone, somewhere 😁 !LOLZ

Cheers and thanks.

Marian often clears her cupboards, and she will find something to come and ask me what it is?
I don't know and I simply tell her to put it in my cupboard. Old electronic things and spares that I don't have an idea about what it is 🤣

Cheers and thanks.

So funny that we have so many things that we gather, always thinking that at some time or another, we will need them, but then they lay untouched in the boxes for years.
For so long that we no longer know what they are. Especially the electronical gadgets, as I must have about 20 remotes laying around 🤣 !LOLZ

Cheers and thanks.

Yep, and even today I have needed a part from an old tripod for someone - it was in one of the boxes of things I don't know where they belong to 😂 !LOLZ
We only keep the remotes we need, but 6 or seven are laying around here too 🤣

You see? That's why we keep stuff, because we know that somebody will need it, even if we don't know where they belong to, or what they are 🤣 !LOLZ
We currently have only 2 remotes, one for the gates and one for the inverter. The other 10 or 12 that I kept over the years, are in the boxes somewhere 😜

Cheers and thanks.

It often happened that when I finally thought I wouldn't need something anymore I needed it right the next day or week 😂 !LOLZ

Oh yes, I forgot about the remoted that my kids have in their rooms and the the most important remote to start the diesel heater of my van in winter 😀
