We left with sore hearts

The last day at our old house and here's Marian with her last feeding of the little ones.
167.jpg

Harry and Sally, the geese were eating and a squirrel came in for a nut.

This feeding ritual played itself out every morning and evening for the last 3 years and now the time has arrived for us to leave. This was two weeks ago as we moved out to a new place.
There is a time for everything and a season for tears, just as there is a season for joy and we simply have to endure what it is that life throws at us. Yes, I know that at times it seems like the end of our world, but time is a great healer and such is life.

Hectic bonds were formed between us and the critters and much joy that we had with them.
334.JPG

A last laugh as the brave squirrel scampered past Harry the soldier.
309.JPG

Another squirrel came in to look around.
324.JPG

They are very fast so he gabbed a nut from her at speed and there he went around the pots to eat the nut.
380.JPG

Then he popped up for a drink at the bird bath.
225.JPG

5 doves, 2 squirrels and 2 geese in this photo below. See if you can see them all.
364.JPG

Sadly I had to leave the Aloe tree that I planted as it grew too big to be removed. Oh And I also had to leave my lines of river rocks.
So another chapter in our lives is closed and now in our new place Marian's tears for her little friends are slowly drying up. The new place has a much smaller garden and thankfully there are some small birds here that already keep her busy. But no more squirrels and no more geese.
Do I cry for them?
Yes, but I have learned to cry inside myself, as life has taught me to endure it's vagaries.
No, we will not go back there as I don't want to have an avalanche of tears again by my wife, but we are in contact with our ex neighbor who now feeds our little ones.
Such is life.

And That's All Friends.

Transitions of any kind are hard, but those that involve a loss of some kind ( in this case, your little friends) are the hardest. Hoping your new place has much to offer and is enriching in its own way!

Oh I'm so sorry you don't get to see your squirrels and geese, but I am glad the neighbour also enjoys feeding them! I'm sure your reasons for moving make it an overall good move to make!

I remember moving to a new place... it meant leaving behind the flat where I proposed to my wife and many other happy memories, but it also meant enough room to have a baby! We moved just before the Covid lockdowns as well, and the extra space really helped then as well!

Thank you and it's all about choices methinks.
Stay in a place that is next to a major intersection opposite a big hospital with traffic, trucks, buses and wailing ambulance sirens day and night, or stay in a place where there is no noise and one can only hear the sea in the distance.
I am happy that we made the correct choice, even though we had to sacrifice our love for our little friends.

Memories are just that. Memories and they should never stand in your way when new opportunities present themselves. I bet that the baby will be very happy about your choice.
Congrats by the way and have a !BEER

Changes in life…
Good to hear a neighbour looks out for them though. And I can imagine going back would be tough.

New place, new beginnings!
Happy Tuesday @papilloncharity 👋🏻😊

Nope, no going back as yesterday is history and we don't allow it to influence our new days, except for the lessons that we have learned.

Every day in life is a new beginning my friend.
Happy Wednesday @littlebee4

Awwww, I can understand the tears, it's hard to move after you have made such a connection with nature. In time things will level out and I'm sure you and Marion will make new friends to serve breakfast and dinner to.
Best of luck with the new place, I caught some pix of it in another post and it looks great, nice and cozy😉

Enjoy the week!

Greetings to you Lady Robin.

Hope that you guys are all okay and I said somewhere else that it was the toughest of our 9 moves thus far. But the noise and the people there were slowly driving us crazy and we would have done anything to get to the silence that we have now in the new place.
It is much smaller, but there only the two of us and our little dog, so it is livable methinks. The front and back gardens are very small, but we have brought many of our plants along and already have some small visitors.
Like this little Cape White-eye.

So thank you for the wishes and your kind support.
May you guys also have a blessed week.

Such is life indeed @papilloncharity! I'm so glad your neighbours are feeding Marion's little friends, although they must wonder what happened to their human 'mother'.
I'm sure you both will soon find new friends, both human and of the animal kind, but you likely will not see so many raptors.
Have a great week further and blessings to you and Marion in your new home!

Ooh, I won't show this reply to Marian as she will cry again when she reads the human "mother" part.
We live in the same area Lady Lizzie, just far away from the old place and the traffic and now I can sleep with no noise at night. Funny that you should say that I won't see many raptors anymore, as I saw crows guiding a raptor out of their space today. But they were at a distance and this was the best that I could get.

Too far away to see what it was, but either a kite or a buzzard.

We hope that you guys are also having a good week thus far and all blessing to you.

Thank you Zac, at least they've started restoration work on the school bank from the 12 April storms, it's been a long time.
We don't see as many raptors here, as we don't have any mountains nearby, they look so gracious gliding in the sky, likely looking for prey!
Take care of yourselves!
Thank you for the pizza 🤗

I only hope that the restorations will get done properly my friend, as nowadays they like to take short cuts. Fortunately we are still near the mountains and I will never move far away from them. In fact we are looking for a place on the other side of the mountains, as there are many farms there that have cottages.
And you guys also take care milady.

Thea are so lovely and to see these images of the animals, you have lived together with for such a long time, makes me sad too. Of course, the tears will dry, but I don't think you'll ever forget and certainly from time to time you will think of them and ask your ex-neighbor how they are, and hopefully they will always say that the little ones are happy 😊

Already asking the neighbor and she is happy with them Hannes. So that eases things a bit but you are right, as they will remain in our memories forever.
So gradually things will start to get better for us and for them.
Thank you for the care.

Cheers and thanks.

Right now we have more urgent problems Hannes, as the roof is leaking and in the bathroom only the toilet works properly. I stripped the cupboard under the basin in the bathroom to expose another leak and it is rotten. The bath cannot drain as the fittings are broken and we were not told about this when we bought the place.
So yes there are some problems, but you now what I will say here.

Cheers and thanks.

So you have some certificates telling that everything's fine, but the rest of the house is broken. That doesn't sound good and even though I know that you will fix everything, I think that the person that has sold the house to you wasn't honest and you should ask him about it.

No, no, the ex owner is paying for the plumbing links and the shower to be replaced. Ten the body corporate of this complex is paying for the roof to be replaced.

We will have to pay for a few changes that I want to do, such as a gas geyser and the bathroom revamp, as it is old style and we don't like the current yellow bath.
So all is under control and we will only get the plumbing certificate once all of the leaks have been fixed.

Cheers and thanks.

Oh, that doesn't sound so bad anymore although it still is annoying that he didn't tell you and that it wasn't fixed before you moved in.

Yeah, I got things in hand and you are right, as we should have known that before, as I would certainly have lowered our buying price offer. I think that's why we weren't told about the plumbing and the roof.
But now that we know, it's another ball game and let's see how it ends up.
I am a very easy and kind guy Hannes, but I can also be the devil himself if people tramp on my toes.
Hopefully it will not come to that 🙏

Cheers and thanks.

Yes, it hurts to leave those little friends in charge of strangers. I hope they have patience with them too. Cry if you need to, I've heard it's not good to deprive yourself of doing so.

Thank you Lady Denise and you are so right.
We are well and my first adventure, apart from the one that I had today, is to get the bathroom and the roof of this place fixed.

Our prayers are always with you and may the sun continue to shine on your road.

My pleasure milady and to tell you the truth, I like fixing things, especially big jobs as it energizes me.
So I will take before and after photos for a post in DIY and hopefully the people will like my changes.
I am also putting in a gas geyser to avoid the exorbitant costs of the electric geyser, as it is a money guzzler. Solar heating will have to wait as this is not our final house yet and one day when I find our ideal house, then it will be done to take us finally off the electrical grid.

Hope that you will have a good weekend.

You and me both!!! This isn't permanent but, I actually have a solar fund. :) because I am closer to being off the grid every day.

I think that will be a great post!

Thanks for all the tokkens!

Moving on to a place that suits your needs, quiet, peaceful, less traffic, and hopefully a more peaceful place will give you a new joy. I would suspect that after long Marion will be feeding a whole new host of critters.

I hope you are getting settled in and have taken some time to kick back. Moving can be such a chore.

Peace my friend.

Thank you my friend and you are so right as now after two and a half weeks here in the new place the silence is starting to work. We brought all of our pot plants with and already had a few visitors.
In fact this little Cape White-eye came to greet us today.

I don't think that you and I know how to kick back, as I have stayed busy after the move and now having to dodge the power cuts with my two daily posts on Hive, I am even busier !LOL

Peace and !LUV also to you guys.
