Traveling to Ceres in the Western Cape of South Africa.
I have a heap of landscapes in here to show you the beauty.
We love to take the long roads, as there is always so much to see.
South Africa is a big country with big farms and small historical farming towns, spotted all over the country. The country is also renowned for its hot summers, and tourists flock here from all over the world. It is a photographers paradise, as the fauna and flora and also the wildlife are in abundance all over. There are nine provinces in the country, and each of them are different with respect to geology, vegetation, mountains, climate, and also beaches. Not all of the provinces are at the sea and the inland provinces differ from the coastal provinces. Two oceans are on the borders of South Africa, the Indian Ocean and the Atlantic Ocean.
Yellow patches of Canola fields contrast sharply with the other colors.
Did I tell you that we love to travel on the long roads? Miles and miles of contrasting views.
There are very big farms here, and also fruit, grain, canola, olives, wine, cattle etc. In the distance, in the photo below, you can see a thin dusting of snow on the mountain rim, but more of the snow later.
They call these misty mountains.
Another faint line of snow on the mountain peaks.
Another view of the mist on the mountains.
There you can see the snow a little bit more clearly. About three weeks ago, those mountains were fully covered with snow.
A snow dotted peak above the lands.
The roads are in great condition, especially when one goes over the mountain passes.
The thing that we enjoy, is the variety of the views and they change consistently as we drive along. One moment there are mountains, the next there are huge farms, dams, lakes and nothing is the same. A feast for the eyes.
Wikipedia can explain the wildlife better than I can;
The wildlife of South Africa consists of the flora and fauna of this country in Southern Africa. The country has a range of different habitat types and an ecologically rich and diverse wildlife, vascular plants being particularly abundant, many of them endemic to the country. There are few forested areas, much savanna grassland, semi-arid Karoo vegetation and the fynbos of the Cape Floristic Region. Famed for its national parks and big game, 297 species of mammal have been recorded in South Africa, as well as 849 species of bird and over 20,000 species of vascular plants.
Do yourself a favor and visit the source link above, as I am sure that you will also be amazed.
And that's all friends.
I hope that you enjoyed the pictures and the story.

The landscape is so beautiful it is no wonder that you choose to drive the long roads. The drive would be the destination for me. It would be enough.
Thank you and yes, the variety in the landscapes makes it a pleasure to drive on the long roads. I am similar, as the driving is also more pleasurable for me.

Thank you kindly!
We do live in a beautiful country my friend - from the mountains to the blue sea, and everything in between! This kind of diversity is not easily found anywhere else in the world, lovely photos.
We do Lady Lizzie, and I just said elsewhere that I enjoy the long roads more than the end destination. We are really blessed with the ever-changing beauty of the landscapes, almost like they are in a competition to show us their best views.
Thank you and I am glad that you liked the photos.

I absolutely agree that a long road trip is the best way to experience natural beauty and the people.
When I was a child, my brothers and I used to be impatient, forever asking 'how much further'. My Mom and Dad would distract us and tell us to look at the clouds, the rocky hills, and the mountains, and try to see an object in the shapes. It taught us to look a little further, but the impatience would take over again!
Of course, as we get older, we learn to appreciate what we see along the way.
A wonderful Sunday for you and Marian, Zac
So sad, as we never had a car, but at times my uncle collected me to go and help him on his farm. Milking mostly and also the job of catching the sheep for their inoculations. But I also got impatient on the loooong trips to his farm. You were blessed by the teachings of your parents, and you are right, as we grow older, we learn to appreciate the finer touches in nature.
Hope and pray that your Sunday will also be good Lady Lizzie and !LUV to you from both of us.
