Traveling to an Italian Restaurant in the Cape Province of South Africa.

The Waterkloof Estate was visited by a Hive friend, and he tipped me off.

The proud owner of the restaurant is a very friendly guy, and he can make anyone feel at home. I had a nice chat with him.

The guilty party that tipped us off about the Waterkloof Wine Estate, is none other than @fermentedphil and I will send him a kiss, not from me, but from my wife Lol. Apparently, there are two restaurants on the farm, and some bad news was that the restaurant that my friend visited was not available as it's being renovated. But not that we minded, as the Osteria one was a real eye opener. Genuine Italian fare, with homemade pasta and the award's winning homemade cheeses. Another great aspect about the Osteria, is that you can watch the staff making your meal through a big window, and everything is sanitized and spotlessly clean.

So, if you are in the area, do not hesitate to visit the Osteria Restaurant.

As one enters the place, the homely atmosphere immediately grabs all of one's senses. The aromas that waft through the air play a tantalizing game with one's nostrils. Check out the kitchen staff through that big window.

Puglia cheese is the pride of the place and in the writ below you will see that; Puglia cheese is proud to have been awarded over 40 South African, International and Qualite' Cheese awards over the last 13 years. They also won a World Award.

Now okay, I am an outside kind of guy, and there is a long exterior deck outside the shop.

That was our table, and I saw something, that spurred me on to take a walk. Unfortunately, this post is already a bit long, and so I will not show you the birds and the other sights that I took photos off. But I can tell you that the farm is alive all round.

That below was what I first spotted from the deck.

Just a lovely wine estate scene, and that's it for this post.

The amazing thing is that we often drive right past this farm's entrance on our way to the Sir Lowry's Pass village, in order to do Papillon's charity work in the communities. In fact, I posted our first partnership in a feeding scheme in the village some years ago. Since then, we have worked in some schools and some other projects in the village, and yet, we drove right past the Waterkloof wine estate. The news is that the other restaurant, on the farm, will soon be restored, and then we will also go and have a look at it. Unfortunately, we are not the richest of souls so we cannot eat at these places, but their coffee and tea is good enough for us. Plus, the photos of course, as there are many great sights to be seen and I was told that the other restaurant is much higher up in a valley, surrounded by forests and huge mountains. So, till then, I will do another post like this.

We have many tourists and travelers on Hive, and if any of you ever visit the Western Cape province of South Africa, then do not miss a visit to the Waterkloof wine estate.
Have a look at the place with this safe link

I hope you have enjoyed the pictures and the story.

You are so lucky in the Western Cape with the beautiful wine estates and the mountains. Osteria looks like quite an experience, and it's great that you can see the cooking happening beyond the glass!
It's weird how we drive past places almost daily but what a treat when we discover a hidden gem right on our doorstep!
Have a wonderful week my friend.

We are indeed fortunate to live close to the winelands Lady Lizzie. Osteria was really a great find and they all about Italian foods, as the owner is also Italian. The big glass window is really a great way to show the clients how professional they are.
Weird indeed as we passed there at least 10 times.
Hope that you will also have a good new week.

A wonderful discovery Dimas, and we will be sure to pay more visits there, as soon as their other restaurant is completed. Thay are doing upgrades to the second restaurant, and I was told that it will also be wonderful. Truly Italian stuff.

So glad that you enjoyed it! I want to go back there for their cheese. If I remember correctly, they used to work under the name "Healy's", or something along those lines. Made some fantastic cheese. Need to see if the new people carried on the legacy!

The owner is Italian and maybe you can also sit down and chat with him. We will be going back there and if you want, then we can visit the place together when you come back.
