The heavens have opened...
...with the result that nature's residents were scrambling for food.
The wet didn't worry them, as their stomachs were more important to fill.
I was sitting in the prison of our study, as the rain kept me inside today. We both have the sniffles, and no use to go outside again, as it might turn the sniffles into something worse. So, a big jacket kept me warm, and my wife was dressed up like an Eskimo, as the temperature has dropped to 11C.
Occasional lightning flashes preceded rolling cloud thunders, and if it rains like this near the coast, then it's going to get much worse in the inland areas.
The constant rain was interrupted by a strong wind driving heavier clouds over releasing heavy rainfall. I dashed outside to get one of the heavier clouds.
Look how this little one reacted to a raindrop hitting its face. At this stage it was still a light rainfall. I love this picture, as he didn't drop the acorn.
But he simply continued to eat.
The little white eyes flitted in and out, between the squirrels' arrivals.
See how the squirrel puts its foot on that avocado pip.
And then the heavy rain started to drum down.
We only saw 3 squirrels today, and I hope that the other two are still around somewhere.
Their tails function as umbrellas, and they jump into the air to shake the rain off. I have yet to get one jumping up on camera, as they do it very fast.
All of the photos were taken from the confines of the small square panels of the study window, and to aggravate matters, the window has a web of burglar bars mounted on the outside, so it is not easy to get the photos.
But I am not complaining, as the widow overlooks the front garden, and my wife located her feeding spot within the sight of one glass window panel.
The funny thing is that earlier this year, some weather "experts" told us that we were going to have a warm winter with almost no rain, and they have all gone dead quiet now. I think that the constant drumming of the rain on their roofs right now is an example of their folly.
So please pray with us, as we just know that hundreds of poor souls will lose their houses again in the floods.
Such is the squirrel life here.
I hope you have enjoyed the squirrel action over here today.

As you described the weather in your area, I feel how nervous it is to be in the situation but sharing the life of the squirrel makes the mood lighten. Praying for your safety and the people in your country. Natural disaster cannot be stopped, and the best thing to do is to pray and be prepared. 😊🙏
We are calm and collected, as we have faced many of these storms in the past. The only problem is that the storms continue to get more powerful, and the people in the townships continue to suffer. But improvements of their situation are in the pipeline now, as we have a new government after the elections, so let's watch and wait.
Thank you again for the prayers.

This sounds like such a fascinating sighting! Watching them use their tails as umbrellas and jump to shake off the rain must be adorable. I hope you manage to capture one of those jumps on camera soon. Thanks for sharing this delightful piece! 🐿️
Oh yes, they are here in our front garden every day, and we have learnt their habits. I think that the only way that I will get a jump will be on video, but in the rain it will be difficult. But I will try.
Always my pleasure to share.
