Some fun with a desperate animal.

Say fella, she said, any chance of something sweet for an old gal?

The wife's aunt's birthday is on Monday, but due to the expected storms we met with her at her favorite nursery yesterday. We have an expected cold front coming in with snow and much rain for all of this week. We like the nursery, as they have a small restaurant with outside seating, and as usual we chose to sit outside instead of inside. The women ordered a slice of cheesecake for the wife and a slice of lemon meringue for the aunt. I don't like cake, so I just had coffee.
That was when this lady came to ask me for something sweet.

The wife gave me a piece of her cake, and the lady gently took it from my hand.

Then she waited expectantly, and I had to give her another piece of the wife's cake.

She licked a thank you and went over to go and beg at another table for something.

And then, at some other flowers I saw a movement, and it was this little female Sunbird having a go at some nectar.

We have not visited this little nursery for a long time, and it was so nice to go back there and to see what I got to share with you in here. I took some more photos, but that is for another post. They sell all kinds of indigenous plants and flowers, and they also have a large aloe section. We got a few from them, that are now growing here in our garden, and I always look for the rare ones. Currently, the country has a problem with plant poachers and many arrests are taking place. In one recent incident, we saw the photos of 200 scarce cycads that the poachers were trapped with. So, it is not only the animals being poached, it's now also the flora. There are many syndicates in operation over here, but the law often has successes. That's just the way things are.
