The African sun just wouldn't give up, so come and see the battle in the sky.

I have some beautiful pictures to show you, as I was waiting for a cloudy sky.

We were supposed to go down to the beach, to get the sunset, but a guy banged his truck against our motorized driveway gate. The gate was bent off the motor gear and the rail, so now we have to struggle to open and close the gate manually. It leaves us exposed for a while during the struggle with the gate, and we cannot take any chances with the current crime situation.
So, I took the photos from our front garden, and I think that they came out quite well.

Yep, things were a bit wet, but luckily the rain has stopped.

We were so glad that the rain brought about some much-needed coolness, as we have been struggling with some very hot temperatures these past days. Now I can tell you that we are thankful that we don't live further inland, as some towns there have 40C degrees. There are so many beautiful and interesting little towns all over the Western Cape, but we are not sure we would cope with those types of temperatures if he had to live there permanently. Ours here is quite a moderate climate. Sure, there are some days in the mid to upper 30's (C) but that is not the constant and we enjoy a cool winter, but never going under 0 degrees.

It is always fascinating to consider and see how people can adapt to their surroundings and climates if they have to, though. So, if and when we move again, we will merely adapt and learn to appreciate the place that we find ourselves in. Always appreciating what beauty, it has to offer, and enjoying a certain type of freedom that we experience in our country.

I hope you have enjoyed the pictures and the story.

Hope the person who damaged your gate and motor have started process to repair soon!

Rain gone and hot again, but thankful for the wind.

I contacted a gate repair guy, and he came to do a temporary job, so that at least now the gate can run on the motor again. It was very difficult to push it open and close it every day, and my back is still moaning. He charged us R450.
We haven't seen the guy that smashed the gate again, and according to his broker, the claim will take 3 to 6 months to settle. I just hope that the gate will last that long.

Drivers today are questionable as to whether they own a legal license, insurance is the biggest scam in all spheres!

A very big worry, as selling the licenses has become big business. Insurance I don't even want to talk about. Not worth it, as they will try every trick in the book to avoid paying out claims. We call them the "fine print" gang.

Slow Sunday for a change thanks, and hope that your Sunday was also good. Suffering is gradually becoming more general in the country methinks. Even the middle classes are feeling the bite in their pockets.

Everyone is affected except the few feeding at the trough! Homes up for sale wherever one looks here on the South Coast, sadly many 'new' middle class who were given a boost a few years ago not able to manage the sudden turn in events.

So true and it seems that half of the country's population are fleeing to the Western Cape.
So sad, as many lose it all and those that don't are living on the bread line. I read an article stating that those that took out loans to buy new cars are now regretting it due to rises in the food and petrol prices.

Western Cape is not geared for the influx, I was looking at how Knysna is battling to a point the estuary is starting to suffer.

Regional solutions are required urgently, if not all will be lost, the country we knew is no longer there!

Thank you and whenever one looks at images with a "deeper" eye, then the images will start to talk to one. Awakening the love for the finer things in life in one's brain.

It's as if each image is a window into a natural spectacle full of movement and beauty.
To me that's exactly what it is.

I often compare the calm in a storm to the storms in our lives, and it's when we realize that nothing lasts forever, then we will learn how to manage our upsets much better.

That is a great description of what the guy said to the cloud behind him, as every dark cloud has a silver lining.

Thank you, and the reason why I don't mention crime is that I try to stay away from negativity. Our country is riddled with corruption, syndicates, and desperate unemployed people. So nothing and nobody is safe anymore.

I like to look at the good things in life my friend. We are at our most vulnerable when we open the gate, as the criminals watch the areas, and can strike in an instant. That's why it is best to have a gate on a motor, as then we can open the gate with a remote as we arrive, and drive in quickly while the gate is closing behind us. A broken gate will draw much attention.

They are watching in all of the top neighborhoods. and they also have informers, so it's a real struggle to stay safe in this country. Most everyone lives behind high walls and fences, and that's why the driving entrances are soft spots for them to rob you and to take your car. If you struggle with them, then they simply shoot you.
