Floods all over and more rain to come.
Before I go on with the Hopefield Town series, I want to show you what happened here on Monday. We were lambasted by some severe floods in most of the coastal towns and also inland in the areas below the mountain rivers.
They woke up in the morning, prepared to go to work, but they couldn't get out of the complexes due to the road being flooded and now closed.
You can see more videos of the damages at the two safe links below:

Some hectic times over here lately, as these floods are much worse than the one that we had during this time last year. I mean that we saw bridges and roads washed away, houses roofs blown off and people in the townships losing everything as the water turns their shacks into boats on their way to the stormy sea.
@papilloncharity was called out to a flooded township, but we couldn't drive in, as a police van stopped the cars from entering. But we made a plan by issuing some vouchers for dry blankets and food, to a senior police officer who is on Papillon's board.
The 4 pictures of the floods below were sent to my wife's phone, by a good friend.
2 Showing that the townships had a bad time.

But then the established houses didn't have a good time either.

I took more photos of the floods near our home here below.
An uprooted tree got stuck under a bridge. What we have seen some years ago, is that the water pushes a tree sideways and then the weight of the water pushes the tree upwards to break the bridge.
Emergency repair of a burst water pipe.
The river was coming down off the mountain at a monstrous speed, smashing all in its way.
We popped down for a look at the beach and you can see how the high tide waves washed over this road. Leaving its signature of sand behind.
And finally, can you believe it? Some guys were out kite surfing. One monster wave might arrive, and then they would have to scoot up very high in the air, or run on the water.
Some very bad times over here and also further afield. It shows us how vulnerable we are to the whims of nature. Nature doesn't care for race or how rich and how poor we are, as it strikes all regardless of who and what they are. Just goes to show that we are focused on the wrong things in this life. Some strive for popularity, others waste their time striving for earthly riches, and yet others strive for titles. But it is all meaningless, as we have to recognize our vulnerabilities and the things that we cannot control, such as nature, during our short journey on this planet.
"How can we not be humble in the knowledge that we are mere blips of biology on a tiny watery rock somewhere in an unimaginably vast universe?"

Oh yes, self importance counts for nil in our lives.
We are so thankful, as Villiersdorp is close to our main feeder dam Thee-Waters-Kloof dam and it is more than 100% full.
Dams in the Cape have had to open sluices to release water, there will still be a few days before the levels subside.
Good to hear you are safe and able to get emergency assistance through to the many displaced.
The real funny thing is that dry rivers that had last seen water many years ago, is now flooding. All of our feeder dams are more than 100% full, and you are right, as sluice gates are being opened. There are many videos on Network 24.
Been doing this since 2002 at Papillon Lady Joan, and it has become second nature.

Dry river beds always good warning that water passes through at some time, one cannot dictate the path it will always take either.
Fortunately you in a Province where people serve the people so effectively, many on the ground ready to assist from various NGO and NPO organizations, it takes everyone working together to realize good results.

We are in the meeting process, to cook up a new support project for the poor and please hold thumbs that it will take off.

I am a stickler for proper preparation and still a few angles to consider. But if it's to be, then it will be. If not, then we will simply work on something else.

Flood is among the natural deserter that has resulted in a lot of damage to our environment, and has caused loss of lives and property. Just imagine, people that are supposed to be in their workplace, as it has hindered them from going to work, and still pulled some people's roofs off.
Oh yeah, many shops are closed because the workers cannot get out. Bridges and roads are washed away, and the coastal towns were smashed by high sea waves. Some people have lost their homes and now they have nothing. Things are very bad here.
The turmoil is everywhere, it seems. I am sending you my most heartfelt wishes for a cessation in the rainfall and prayers for all involved. We are all mere blips in the grand scheme of things.

Oh yeah, Mother nature was in a very bad mood, and we feel so sad about the people that lost their homes. Everything gone, ID cards, SASSA cards, bank cards, all their clothes and everything else. So much worse than the floods that we had at this time last year.
Such is life.

(no space) to get help on Hive. InfoThe floods earlier this year in our area was worse. This time everything was flooded but the bridges and roads are still intact and no loss of life. This is the normally dry river that flooded over the road. Most of us were only cut off for a couple days
Oh yes, I remember the floods in your area and right now we still have 84 roads closed. The worst is in the Overberg, as both of the roads across the mountain are closed. So now the long weekend visitors cannot return to Cape Town.
