Sushi Just Makes Things Better

Sometimes after and extremely, extremely long day at work nothing replenishes your weary soul like a exceptional cheat meal and for me that is veering off of the carnivore diet slightly to indulge in some quality fresh sushi!

And, of course, when I'm craving sushi I head to "my" spot, Nikkos and not only is one of the premier sushi experiences in the metro Atlanta area it is owned and operate by one of the most exceptional sushi chefs who also happens to excel at customer service. He is my "sushi guy" and he never fails to impress me with some new surprise creation just for me.

His succulent creations are so rich and filling I usually only order two rolls at each visit, not to mention he spoils me with a complimentary salad of some kind and a unique chef's creation just for my party. Tonight was no different and the complimentary "salad" he presented to us was fried piece of crab resting upon a soy sauce marinated bed of fresh, crisp cucumbers.

The first roll I ordered was an in-house specialty roll named the "Munchie Roll" and it is comprised of shrimp tempura, avocado, cream cheese, and topped with marinated shredded crab. This is an extremely rich culinary delight and would probably suffice as the entire meal if I were not such a gluttonous fool! lolol

At this point my work partner and myself were completely stuffed, we had paid our bill and was beginning the depressing ritual of gathering our things when the owner started motioning for us to sit down saying he was creating something SPECIAL for us! As if the artistry he had already paraded before us were not enough. A minute or two later he laid in front of us one of the most beautiful and artistically crated pieces of food I have ever seen and, honestly, one of the best tasting morsels I've ever put in my mouth and though he did not have a name for it, I've coined it "The Orb of Delight"!!! lolol

This work of a sushi genius begins as a ball of marinated shredded crab that is carefully and painstakingly wrapped in a delicate slice of fresh salmon and then an offering of fragile salmon roe are precariously balanced on the top like orange pearls upon the top of a mountain of treasure. The entire orb is gently laid on a bed of savory eel sauce as the beautiful presenation is laid bare before you. It is wonderous to behold and the flavor is simply indescribable. That's it....I....HAVE.....NO......WORDS!

This was the perfect conclusion to an absolutely stellar meal that contained the power to transform and very difficult, painful, and emotionally draining day into something quite a bit less bad and though there may be "better" sushi places out there.....they are not "my" sushi places and the pieces are not prepared with love and adoration by "my" guy.....there is no price you put on something like that, the level at which this man serves his customers it is moving to see and something we could all aspire to.
