RESURRECCIÓN SEVILLISTA PARA SOBREVIVIR AL INFIERNO [ESP/ENG]

Pocos sitios como Andalucía para vivir las festividades de Semana Santa y de aquella comunidad autónoma pocas ciudades como Sevilla para esos menesteres; en plena semana de pascua y cambiando un poco de religión pasamos al fútbol que no venera a Dios alguno que no sea redondo; el Sevilla, que ha tenido una temporada no menos que aciaga, encuentra siempre su bálsamo en la Europa League, su competición fetiche un santuario en el que ni el mismísimo infierno de Old Trafford les puede ha visto caer más allá de estar contra la lona. El conjunto hispalense resucitó de entre los muertos en un partido en que a los 20 minutos parecían estar destinados al naufragio absoluto; sobre la hora y con un par de autogoles el mismísimo Diablo Rojo les ha dado vida para competir en el Sánchez Pizjuan.
Para nadie es secreto que el Sevilla tiene un idilio especial con la Europa League, poco ha importado el hervidero que era el teatro de los sueños, poco han importado, también, las perspectivas y momentos futbolísticos tan diametralmente opuestos que acusan los de ten Hag y los de Mendilibar y, al final, de nada ha servido el par de acicates que propició el conjunto local a su visita. El Sevilla y la Europa League han escrito un nuevo capítulo de su histórica novela epistolar en Old Trafford.
El partido que empezó como una pesadilla para el conjunto andaluz ha tenido un final casi de ensueño, puesto que las tablas dejan todo abierto para un Sevilla que ante su gente buscará redimir la amarga campaña liguera que han firmado con una nueva hazaña escrita en la Europa League; romance absoluto el de los de Nervión con su competición predilecta. El 2-2 deja la puerta abierta a que el Sevilla pueda soñar con trascender en la eliminatoria por las bajas que habrá de acusar el United para el juego de vuelta. Es inevitable pensar en esa especie de aura especial que eleva al conjunto Sevillista a otra dimensión en las instancias finales de la Europa League, por en ende, el hecho de que el United haya dejado vivo al conjunto de Nervión no pinta bien para la causa de los de ten Hag.

It is no secret that Sevilla have a special love affair with the Europa League, it mattered little that the theatre of dreams was a hotbed, it mattered little, too, the diametrically opposed footballing perspectives and moments that ten Hag's side and Mendilibar's side had, and in the end, the couple of spurs that the home side brought to their visit were of no use at all. Sevilla and the Europa League have written a new chapter in their historic epistolary novel at Old Trafford.
The match that began as a nightmare for the Andalusian side had an almost dream ending, as the draw left everything open for Sevilla, who will be looking to redeem their bitter league campaign with a new feat in the Europa League in front of their home fans; an absolute love affair for the Nervión outfit with their favourite competition. The 2-2 draw leaves the door open for Sevilla to dream of transcending the knockout phase, given the absentees that United will have to take into the second leg. It is inevitable to think of that special aura that elevates the Sevillista side to another dimension in the final stages of the Europa League, so the fact that United have left the Nervión outfit alive does not look good for ten Hag's cause.

El fútbol es, muchas veces, un ente misterioso que va más allá de cualquier posible análisis que pueda llevarse a cabo sobre lo que acontece en el terreno de juego; el Sevilla que fue un desastre en la primera parte y rayó en el ridículo absoluto durante la primera hora ha salido más que vivo de un infierno que parecía estar quemándoles vivos. Todo parecía perdido para el conjunto de mendilibar y la mística de la oncena hispalense ha hecho de las suyas de forma casi inexplicable, los autogoles de Malacia y Maguire que tuvieron a Navas y En-Nesyri como autores intelectuales son un par de ocasiones que hacen del choque un juego digno de estudio para los “metafutbolísticos”.
El resultado final del partido en Old Trafford más que por mérito del Sevilla se ha dado por demérito del United que echó en falta su grandeza histórica y se volvió conservador en su accionar, no fueron los Diablos Rojos que dejaron en el camino al Barcelona y al Betis, tras ir aplastando al Sevilla por 2-0 cambiaron su disposición ofensiva y jugaron a cuidar un marcador que terminó quedándose corto porque el fútbol está lleno de misterios. Erik ten Hag terminó por pagar su mala gestión de la ventaja, el quitar a sus mejores elementos del terreno de juego le salió caro.
Football is often a mysterious entity that goes beyond any possible analysis of what happens on the pitch; Sevilla, who were a disaster in the first half and bordered on the ridiculous in the first hour, have emerged more than alive from an inferno that seemed to be burning them alive. All seemed lost for Mendilibar's side, and the mystique of the Sevilla side played its part in an almost inexplicable way, the own goals by Malacia and Maguire, with Navas and En-Nesyri as the masterminds, are a couple of chances that make the match a game worthy of study for the "meta-footballers".
The final result of the match at Old Trafford was more to the detriment of Sevilla than to the demerit of United who missed their historical greatness and became conservative in their actions. It was not the Red Devils who left Barcelona and Betis on the road, after crushing Sevilla 2-0 they changed their offensive disposition and played to take care of a score that ended up falling short because football is full of mysteries. Erik ten Hag ended up paying for his mismanagement of the advantage, taking his best players off the pitch cost him dearly.
El planteamiento de Mendilibar fue tan valiente como ingenuo y eso le costó a los hispalenses que se veían absolutamente superados por el dinámico manejo de pelota del conjunto local. Al minuto 14’ Bruno Frnandes, que se estaba dando un festín con los espacios que gozaba para combinar con los suyos, filtró a Marcel Sabitzer cuyo zurdazo mordido por Marcao se acunó en las redes de Bono para hacer estallar el júbilo en Old Trafford. Lo ganaba 1-0 el United muy temprano y casi de inmediato volvería a la carga; Martial contemporizó la contra del conjunto local para dar tiempo a la subida de sus compañeros y encontró que Sabitzer se clavó en el espacio que había dejado libre para servirle al austriaco un pase magnífico que haría buen para firmar su doblete.
El United cosechó una ventaja de dos goles en tan solo 20 minutos de juego, pero reza un adagio futbolístico, que casi sabe a cliché, que el 2-0 es el marcador más engañoso en este deporte. Y en este caso ha terminado por ser cierto. El primer tiempo tendría un recital de ocasiones para que el United marcase el tercero en su cuenta, pero no lo consiguieron y eso dio pie a que en el descanso Mendilibar ajustase líneas en zona baja para descifrar el enigma que proponía ten Hag con Marcel Sabitzer haciendo labores de delantero.
Mendilibar's approach was as brave as it was naïve, and it cost Sevilla, who found themselves utterly outplayed by the home side's dynamic ball handling. In the 14th minute Bruno Frnandes, who was feasting on the space he was getting to combine with his team-mates, slipped the ball through to Marcel Sabitzer whose left-footed shot was nestled in Bono's net to send Old Trafford into jubilation. It was 1-0 United's early lead and almost immediately they were back in the ascendancy; Martial temporised the home side's counter-attack to allow time for his team-mates to move forward and found Sabitzer to poke into the space he had vacated to set up the Austrian for a superb pass that he would make good to sign for his brace.
United had taken a two-goal lead after just 20 minutes of play, but there is a football adage, almost cliché-like, that 2-0 is the most deceptive scoreline in the game. And in this case it proved to be true. The first half saw a flurry of chances for United to score their third, but they failed to do so and that led to Mendilibar adjusting his lines down low at half-time to solve the riddle posed by ten Hag with Marcel Sabitzer playing as a striker.

Para el segundo tiempo, el Sevilla, más organizado en defensa dio un pasito adelante y el United exhibió un carácter conservador muy impropio de su ADN y de su historia tanto en en la Premier como en cualquier competición europea que pise y fue ahí dónde, al traicionar su esencia histórica, el fútbol, que es tan celoso como misterioso en sus designios, le cobró factura. Con 84 minutos en el reloj, Tyrell Malacia se equivocó rotundamente al dejar correr una pelota larga a segundo palo, llegó Jesús Navas a sacar petróleo de una acción que parecía ya muerta y el esférico rebotó en el desventurado defensor neerlandés que desvió la pelota en dirección de su arco para dejar sin reacción a De Gea. ¡El Sevilla estaba vivo!
Tan vivos estaban los de Mendilibar que al minuto 92’ le harían una trastada al mismísimo Diablo en su Infierno. De Gea evitó el empate de En-Nesyri al 91, pero al 92’ Ocampos tiró un centro al área que el marroquí remató de mala manera, pero lo que en ocasiones te quita el fútbol, en algunas otras te lo da, aquel mal remate de En-Nesyri salió en dirección del rostro de Maguire y esa pelota envenenada se clavó en el arco del United para firmar el empate hispalense sobre la hora.
La desgracia se cebó con el United que veía como la ventaja que tanto buscaron cuidar con la propuesta conservadora de la segunda parte, el Sevilla ha pasado de la pesadilla absoluta al más dulce sueño de haber salido del Teatro de los Sueños con la eliminatoria más que abierta para el jueves próximo en el Sánchez Pizjuán. El Manchester United es apenas el segundo equipo británico en la historia de las competiciones europeas en encajar dos autogoles en un mismo partido, el otro fue el Chelsea ante el Ajax de Erik ten Hag en 2019. In the second half, Sevilla, more organised in defence, took a step forward and United exhibited a conservative character unbefitting of their DNA and their history both in the Premiership and in any European competition and it was there where, in betraying their historical essence, football, which is as jealous as it is mysterious in its designs, took its toll. Sevilla were alive!
So alive were Mendilibar's side that in the 92nd minute they were to play a trick on the Devil in Hell himself. De Gea kept out En-Nesyri's equaliser in the 91st minute, but in the 92nd minute Ocampos put in a cross into the box that the Moroccan shot poorly over, but what football sometimes takes from you, it sometimes gives you, and En-Nesyri's miscued shot flew across Maguire's face and into United's net to seal the equaliser on the hour.
United's misfortune was compounded as they saw the lead they had tried so hard to preserve with their conservative second-half approach go from an absolute nightmare to the sweetest dream of having left the Theatre of Dreams with the tie more than open for next Thursday at the Sanchez Pizjuan. Manchester United are only the second British team in the history of European competitions to concede two own goals in the same game, the other being Chelsea against Erik ten Hag's Ajax in 2019. In this football business, where you give it, you take it.
