Que la Premier League sea una caja de sorpresas no sorprende a nadie en lo absoluto; un partido puede parecer estar visto para sentencia y cambiar en un abrir y cerrar de ojos, y a estas alturas de una competición cuya cima se encuentra al rojo vivo el liderato puede pasar de unas manos a otras en cuestión de segundos definirse en pequeños detalles. El Arsenal sufrió muchísimo en Birmingham, parecía que los Gunners terminarían tropezando con una piedra llamada Aston Villa, pero la Diosa Fortuna ha hecho un glorioso guiño a Arteta y sus muchachos en Villa Park.
Unai Emery, último entrenador Gunner antes de la llegada de Mikel Arteta, saltó al terreno de juego con toda la intención de aliviar esa seguidilla de un par de derrotas ligueras para los suyos y buscar evitar un tercer descalabro a la par de provocar un cuarto traspié al hilo para el conjunto londinense. Los resbalones ante Everton (1-0), Brentford (1-1) y Manchester City (3-1) habían costado la cima de la Premier League (con un partido pendiente) a los Gunners -por tener peor diferencia de gol que el City- que no podían permitirse caer o empatar en Villa Park si querían seguir en la encarnizada lucha por el título de la Premier.
El barco que comanda Mikel Arteta ha conseguido mantenerse a flote cuando parecía que una nueva tormenta podía hundirse definitivamente. En Villa Park el drama era tal que podía cortarse con un cuchillo al aire, los Gunners estaban a punto del naufragio que podía trastocar profundamente sus aspiraciones de ganar una Premier League que no conquista desde hace 19 años (en la temporada 2003-04) cuando aún eran comandados por Arsene Wenger, pero un epílogo de infarto ha representado un épico soplo de vida para el cuadro londinense en Birmingham.

Arsenal struggled mightily in Birmingham, it looked like the Gunners would end up stumbling over a rock called Aston Villa, but Goddess Fortune has winked gloriously at Arteta and his boys at Villa Park.
Unai Emery, the last Gunner manager before the arrival of Mikel Arteta, took to the field with every intention of easing his side's run of a couple of league defeats and looking to avoid a third slip-up as well as a fourth defeat in a row for the Londoners. Slips against Everton (1-0), Brentford (1-1) and Manchester City (3-1) had cost the Gunners top spot in the Premier League (with a game in hand) and they could not afford to lose or draw at Villa Park if they were to stay in the fierce Premier League title race.
Mikel Arteta's ship has managed to stay afloat when it looked like another storm could sink it for good. At Villa Park the drama was such that it could be cut with a knife in the air, the Gunners were on the verge of the shipwreck that could deeply disrupt their aspirations of winning a Premier League that they have not won for 19 years (in the 2003-04 season) when they were still commanded by Arsene Wenger, but a heart-stopping epilogue has represented an epic breath of life for the Londoners in Birmingham.

La primera quincena de febrero ha sido catastrófica para los Gunners; Arsenal había sido un conjunto sumamente sólido en la faceta defensiva y en sus últimas presentaciones ha carecido de la contundencia que venía mostrando en su cuadro bajo un hecho que, sumado a la falta de desahogo ofensivo en los recientes choques, les ha costado puntos. Muy pronto en el encuentro, los de Emery harían pesar su localía y prenderían fuego a las tribunas del Villa Park; 5 minutos en el reloj y Matty Cash envió una larga pelota a la corrida de Ole Watkins que encaró a Gabriel y le terminó venciendo para cruzar un letal zurdazo que venció la estirada de Ramsdale. 1-0 el conjunto local y Ole Watkins firmaba su cuarto partido anotando para los Villagers.
Arteta tiene en Bukayo Saka a un tipo con estrella y que atraviesa el mejor momento futbolístico de su joven e incipiente carrera. Tras el golpe inicial, el Arsenal quiso mostrar sus credenciales y metió miedo al cuerpo de todo Villager en el Estadio, Tyron Mings salvó una pelota de Nketiah sobre la línea, pero al 16’, en una combinación ofensiva que se le fue atragantando a los Gunners y de algún modo consiguieron enderezar; Ben White terminó centrando por derecha y el rechace de Mings cayó en los pies de Saka que con un riflazo de zurda decretó el empate en el marcador.
The first half of February has been a catastrophic one for the Gunners; Arsenal had been a defensively solid side and in their last few games they have lacked the attacking punch they had been showing in their lower half, a fact which, coupled with a lack of attacking outlet in recent matches, has cost them points. Very early in the game, Emery's side would make their home advantage count and set the Villa Park stands alight; 5 minutes on the clock and Matty Cash sent a long ball into the path of Ole Watkins who beat Gabriel to cross a lethal left-footed shot past Ramsdale's outstretched hands. It was 1-0 to the home side and Ole Watkins had scored his fourth goal for the Villagers.
Arteta has a star in Bukayo Saka, who is in the best form of his young, fledgling career. After the early blow, Arsenal wanted to show their credentials and put fear into the bodies of every Villager in the Stadium, Tyron Mings saved a ball from Nketiah on the line, but on 16 minutes, in an attacking combination that the Gunners were struggling to get right, Ben White crossed from the right and Mings' rebound fell to the feet of Saka who curled in a left-footed shot to level the scores.

Apenas rebasada la media hora, un jugador sumamente cuestionado por la feligresía Villager haría su aparición para poner la cereza en el pastel a una grandiosa combinación ofensiva de los de Emery. Alexandre Moreno le ganó la espalda a Ben White y el resto ha sido historia escrita con poesía pura, Emi Buendía dejó correr la bola entre sus piernas para que Philippe Coutinho devolviese la ventaja a los de casa. ¡La falta de contundencia defensiva volvía a golpear al Arsenal! Los de Arteta han encajado 10 goles en los últimos 6 encuentros.
Furibunda fue la reacción del Arsenal para el arranque de la segunda mitad, los de Arteta no querían caer y, de paso, seguir dando concesiones al Manchester City en la carrera por el título; con mucho corazón y la propuesta ofensiva que los había sostenido como líderes de la Premier hasta el pasado miércoles, metieron al conjunto de Emery contra su área. Al minuto 55’, un cabezazo de Nketiah contra el larguero serviría como una declaración de intenciones por parte de la visita que al minuto 61’ terminó por conseguir el empate; cobraron en corto un córner para que Odegaard sirviera a Zinchenko en la frontal y el tremendo zurdazo del ucraniano terminaría anidando en el marco del “Dibu” Martinez para poner nuevamente la paridad en el marcador. El primer gol de Oleksandr Zinchenko con la camiseta Gunner, es también su primer tanto en 92 encuentros de Premier League.
Arsenal had 75 minutes plus stoppage time to go in search of victory; after the fateful start, everything seemed to be going their way, but it was just a mirage. Just past the half-hour mark, a player highly questioned by the Villager faithful would make his appearance to put the icing on the cake to a great attacking combination from Emery's side. Alexandre Moreno beat Ben White to the ball and the rest was history written in pure poetry, Emi Buendia let the ball run through his legs for Philippe Coutinho to restore the home side's lead, and the defensive blunder was back to hit Arsenal again! Arteta's side have conceded 10 goals in their last six games.
Arsenal's reaction was furious at the start of the second half, Arteta's men did not want to go down and, incidentally, continue to give concessions to Manchester City in the title race; with a lot of heart and the attacking approach that had kept them at the top of the Premier League until last Wednesday, they pushed Emery's side back into their own area. In the 55th minute, Nketiah's header against the crossbar served as a declaration of intent from the visitors and in the 61st minute they finally equalised; they took a short corner for Odegaard to set up Zinchenko on the edge of the area and the Ukrainian's tremendous left-footed shot ended up nestling in the goal of "Dibu" Martinez to put parity back on the scoreboard. Oleksandr Zinchenko's first goal in a Gunner shirt is also his first goal in 92 Premier League games.

El conjunto visitante estaba volcado al frente tras el empate, y terminaron errando un par de ocasiones claras, una de Eddie Nketiah y otra aún más clara de Odegaard que falló en su definición prácticamente a puerta vacía. Con el ímpetu ofensivo del Arsenal, los de Emery encontraron espacios para desdoblar a la contra y tuvieron ocasión para sepultar las aspiraciones de victoria por parte de los de Arteta en un contragolpe generado por la potencia de Leon Bailey fue detenido por la manopla de Ramsdale y el larguero. Primer gran golpe de fortuna del Arsenal.
En el tiempo añadido, la fortuna volvería a ser la gran aliada del cuadro de Arteta. Cuando el reloj consumía sus segundos y el pinchazo en Villa Park parecía inevitable debido a la falta de contundencia en el frente de ataque, un bombazo de Jorginho se encontró con el larguero y terminó por rebotar en la cabeza del “Dibu” Martínez para colarse en el arco del conjunto local para encaminar un épico y afortunado triunfo de la visita; triunfo que abultó Gabriel Martinelli al 98’ aprovechando la puerta vacía que dejó Emi Martínez tras haberse sumado al ataque para un córner. 2-4 terminaba el más que sufrido triunfo Gunner.
A veces, cuando la fortuna te sonríe un par de veces, no tiene reparo alguno en hacerlo una tercera ocasión; un par de horas más tarde el Manchester City terminó pinchando en el City Ground visitando al recién ascendido Nottingham Forest y la cima de la clasificación ha vuelto a manos del Arsenal que sigue teniendo un juego menos que los de Guardiola. ¡La Premier es un carrusel de emociones!
The visitors were on the front foot after the equaliser, and ended up missing a couple of clear chances, one from Eddie Nketiah and an even clearer one from Odegaard who failed to finish from almost an empty net. With Arsenal's attacking impetus, Emery's side found space to break on the counter and had a chance to bury Arteta's side's hopes of victory when a counter-attack generated by the power of Leon Bailey was saved by Ramsdale's hand and the crossbar. Arsenal's first big stroke of fortune.
In stoppage time, fortune would once again be Arteta's side's greatest ally. As the clock ticked down the clock and a Villa Park puncture seemed inevitable due to a lack of attacking punch up front, a Jorginho strike met the crossbar and ricocheted off the head of "Dibu" Martinez and into the home side's net to set up an epic and fortunate win for the visitors; a win that was sealed by Gabriel Martinelli in the 98th minute, taking advantage of the empty net left by Emi Martinez after he had joined the attack for a corner. 2-4 ended the hard-fought Gunner victory.
Sometimes, when fortune smiles on you a couple of times, it has no qualms about smiling on you a third time; a couple of hours later Manchester City ended up on the losing side at the City Ground away to newly promoted Nottingham Forest and the top of the table is back in the hands of Arsenal who still have a game in hand on Guardiola's side. The Premier League is a rollercoaster of emotions!

Y se alineó todo para darle una vida más al Arsenal que parecía que vennía cayendo sin paracaídas, la victoria vs Aston Villa ha sido un colchón de alivio para seguir a flote pero no sólo eso, el empate del Manchester City además le permite a los de Arteta olvidar más rápido los partidos recientes en los que no han tenido un buen resultado, está en Ellos nuevamente el liderato de la premier league

Totalmente, cuando la fortuna te sonríe lo hace en grande manera y eso ha pasado a los de Arteta en este sábado que ha sido un absoluto carrusel de emociones. Al final, el Arsenal termina esta jornada liderando nuevamente la clasificación con todo y ese partido menos en relación al City. ¡Veremos si pueden resistir en la cima y hacerse con el campeonato!

Lucía negro, muy, muy negro el panorama para el Arsenal antes del partido y también durante el encuentro. Un arranque frenético del partido, que se le empezaba a complicar al Arsenal tras el gol de Coutinho, no obstante, se vieron beneficiados del bajo nivel en el que se encuentra el campeón del mundo Emiliano Martínez.
