When digital convenience turns to annoyance

Hello, beautiful people! Welcome to my blog. It's a pleasure to have you in this space. Once again, welcome 🤗

Technology has made living in this digital age a lot easier. It's now very easy to access information and connect to people online, but we must all agree that whatever has pros must also have cons.

The experience that comes with digital pet peeve can be so annoying and frustrating. Imagine listening to or watching something interesting online, and then this annoying ad just pops up unexpectedly. What makes it more annoying is when it's usually those ads that you can't press skip; you just have to wait patiently for them to end on their own, or is it those nightmares that come with trying to reset passwords?

Despite how annoying this is, they have not gotten on my nerves, like how people annoyingly tag me on Facebook posts without my consent or add me to a WhatsApp group without my permission.

I find it disrespectful to tag me in a Facebook post that has nothing to do with me nor is beneficial to me. There was a time that whenever I checked my email before I saw one meaningful message, 99 of them would be from Facebook, and whenever I logged in to Facebook, it's usually notifications from different posts I was tagged in that didn't align with my interests. It was really annoying.

Why will you tag me in a picture you took with your neighbor at their grandfather's burial? How does that concern me?

Or is it all those annoying and unwanted WhatsApp groups addition? Imagine putting your data on to 1000+ notifications from different WhatsApp groups you know nothing about. Because everyone can create a group without paying a dime, some people are now abusing it.

The most annoying is creating a WhatsApp group for us to contribute money for your wedding, (called community of friends). Uncle, if you are not ready to get married, rest; don't put me under unnecessarily pressure; I no send you.

How did I deal with it?

I had to make a post on my Facebook page warning people not to tag me on any post that has nothing to do with me or isn't beneficial to me. After that, I changed my settings to review tags before they appear on my timeline.

For WhatsApp, I also made a post on my status telling people to stop joining my groups without my consent, and I also did a setting change, so now I mostly get group invites instead. People can't add me to any group again.

For anyone to enjoy their digital life experience, they must find a way to gain control over it.

THANK YOU FOR READING TO THE END 🤗

Same thing I did with my FB account years ago. I changed my settings. You can't really stop people from tagging you, so the settings review was he better option.

I’m sure you can find a way to make people ask for your permission before adding you to groups because I think this is really annoying. Especially if the group has nothing to do with your interests as you said.
