A safe haven

I am someone who imagines things a lot. Most times when I am quiet or not doing anything, my mind is usually very busy. There are days when I tell people close to me things I envision in my mind; some laugh at me while others are really left in awe.

When I saw this week's topics, I smiled because this isn't something new; they are things I have imagined several times.

If you had the opportunity to draw just one thing, it could be anything in this world, and the drawing would become a reality. Tell us what you will draw and why that particular thing.

If and only if I had the opportunity to draw something that would become a reality, I would create a world where there's security, employment, and peace. I would title the drawing A Safe Haven.

Safe haven would be a thriving community, a place where people are not sacred for their lives or property. A lot of people out there in different parts of different countries are scared for their lives and property because of the high rate of insecurity. People are being shot to death in their own homes. It breaks my heart whenever I see news of people being kidnapped from their homes, workplaces, or even schools. I get hurt when innocent schoolchildren are being taken from the love and care of their parents and loved ones to a strange place that's filled with brutality and wickedness.

Safe haven would be a place where people from all walks of life would live in peace, harmony, and support for each other, a place where your neighbor also looks out for your well-being as though you were their blood relative.

In the drawing, there would not be unemployment, be it graduates or not. I remember how I felt when I was at home a few years ago without a job. I submitted my resume to different organizations both online and offline without a positive result. I almost went into depression as I would ask my parents for anything and everything I needed, even something as little as a sanitary pad.

A few days ago, someone reached out to me and asked if I knew anyone that would help with the job. Things aren't working out well for her and her family, and I felt this in my chest because I understood what she was going through at that moment. I wish I had a way to get a job to cease the burden in her heart.

So in a safe haven, everyone would have the opportunity to contribute their skills and talents to society; it's going to be a place where everyone's potential creativity and collaboration would be celebrated. People would be fully empowered and trained to pursue their dreams and passions.

Safe haven a place where people would live without the burden, fears, and worries of insecurity, war, and unemployment. A place where your basic needs are met.
