Cooking and Bonding: Trying out Mie Aceh with Friends
I enjoy cooking and trying out new recipes at home. One recipe that I would like to try is Mie Aceh. Mie Aceh is a typical dish from Aceh, Indonesia, which is famous for its unique spicy taste. I want to invite three of my friends to have dinner together and enjoy the dish that I made at home.
Before cooking, I went to the market to buy the necessary ingredients. I bought dry noodles, beef, red chili, bird's eye chili, shallots, garlic, ginger, peanuts, tamarind water, and spices. I also bought watermelon and grilled meatballs, which will be the dessert.
After returning home, I started preparing the ingredients. I washed the beef and cut it into small pieces. Then, I chopped the shallots and garlic and blended the ginger and peanuts using a blender. I prepared the dry noodles by boiling them in boiling water for several minutes. After that, I drained the water and set them aside.
When cooking Mie Aceh, first, I heated the cooking oil in a pan. Then, I sauteed the blended ingredients until fragrant. After that, I added the beef and cooked it until it changed color. Next, I added spices such as turmeric powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, and pepper powder. After the spices were added, I poured tamarind water and added a little salt.
I let this mixture boil and then added the dry noodles. I cooked the noodles until they were tender and absorbed the spices. After that, I added the sliced red chili and bird's eye chili to give the typical spicy taste to Mie Aceh. I tasted it and added salt as needed.
After finishing cooking, I arranged the Mie Aceh on a plate and cut the watermelon into small pieces as a dessert. I also cooked the grilled meatballs that I had bought on the roadside.
Three of my friends arrived on time for dinner. I served Mie Aceh with watermelon and grilled meatballs. They praised my cooking and were happy to be able to taste the delicious Aceh cuisine.
During dinner, we chatted and shared stories. We also discussed other recipes that we wanted to try. After finishing our meal, we cleaned the table and joked around. I felt happy to be able to make a delicious dish and invite my friends to have dinner together. This made me feel close to my friends and strengthened our bond.
