Battle Mage Secrets Weekly Challenge! - Heavy Hitters

Hello Family and Guild Mate

battle mage main.png

Once again, it's another week of the Weekly Battle Mage Challenge. The ruleset for this week is heavy hitters. In this ruleset, all units gain the knock out ability. To trigger the knou out ability the enemy must be in stun status. If this is the ruleset, sometimes I don't pay attention to it because it's difficult to include a lineup with a stun ability, especially if it misses its shot. Since I started playing Splinterlands, I think I've only succeeded twice in using the ruleset and heavy hitters effectively, where my gameplay involved using stun to trigger the knockout ability.

My battle took place in a sps dao free tournament called the Ferexian Modern Silver Invitational I'm only in 77th place in this tournament and earn 23.8 sps. Come, let's see how I won in this ruleset.

TEAM COMPOSITION

battle lineup.png

The summoner I chose for this battle is Possibilus The Wise, a water summoner that grants +2 life, trample, and reach abilities to all units. For the 1st position, I selected Coeurl Lurker, a melee attacker with taunt, dodge, and phase abilities at level 2. I chose him because I need his phase and dodge abilities in this battle. Because of his phase and taunt abilities, there's a chance the enemy's attack might miss him. For the 2nd position, I chose Noa The Just, a no-attack unit with rust and dodge abilities at level 3. Noa The Just's rust ability removes 2 armor from the enemy units. For the 3rd position, I chose Kulu Mastermind, a melee attacker with Weapons Training, opportunity, and shield abilities at level 2. Kulu's weapons training ability will give melee attack ability to Noa The Just and Baakjira. And because of Possibilus's trample ability, if Kulu Mastermind manages to kill, there's a chance it can trample the enemy. For the 4th position, I selected Baakjira, a non-attacking monster with slow, strengthen, and void abilities at level 2. To slow down the enemy because slow has an effect on speed, there's a chance the enemy might miss Coeurl Lurker. For the 5th position, I chose Daarg Deadblast, a magic attacker with Weapons Training and swiftness abilities at level 1. Daarg Deadblast's weapons training will provide additional magic attack ability to Baakjira and magic attack ability to Clockwork Aide. Daarg Deadblast's swiftness will increase the speed of all units. And for the last position, I chose Clockwork Aide, a non-attacking monster with swiftness ability at level 3. Clockwork Aide's swiftness ability will provide additional speed to all units.

KEY NOTES

image.png

My opponent included a unit with a stun ability to have a chance to trigger the knockout ability from the ruleset.

image.png

Due to the speed advantage of Noa The Just, the dodge ability became somewhat effective in evading the enemy's physical attacks.

BATTLE SUMMARY

image.png

In round 1, the enemy's Sultry Barmaid killed my Coeurl Lurker, even though she missed her ambush attack on Coeurl Lurker. At the start of round 2, Kulu Mastermind avenged by killing Sultry Barmaid. Also in round 2, Daarg Deadblast killed the enemy's Diemonshark.

image.png

In round 3, Daarg Deadblast killed Coastal Sentry, marking Daarg Deadblast's second kill in this match. In this battle, Water Caller stunned Noa The Just. Therefore, in round 4, the opponent's knockout ability will trigger, causing every attack on Noa The Just to deal double damage.

image.png

Because Noa The Just was stunned, the opponent's knockout ability was triggered. As a result, Noa didn't last through round 4 and was killed by Water Caller. In round 5, due to the speed advantage of Kulu Mastermind, he immediately attacked Water Caller, ending the match in round 5.

CONCLUSION

  • For me, my plan to speed up Croeurl Lurker and Noa The Didge to have a greater chance of his phase and dodge abilities being effective was successful.

  • There was a chance that Coeurl Lurker's dodge and phase abilities weren't effective due to RNG, but Noa The Just had a chance to be effective because of the speed advantage.

  • Besides swiftness, you can also use the slow ability to reduce the speed of the opponent and increase the chance of it missing against units with dodge and phase abilities.

  • Including a unit with stun is a big help in gaining double damage due to the knockout ability, as seen when Noa The Just was stunned by Water Caller.
