Felgueiras Stª Quitéria - WRC 2024 Portugal - Afternoon

Hello everyone and welcome to my blog :-)

Today I finish telling you about my first live and color experience at a rally.
I confess that I didn't look for much information about this competition and its participants before getting there and I managed to learn a little about who the drivers were and about the race, laps and times.
I only searched for information about the driver of the Hive car @ssekulji.
I started liking Formula 1 after watching a documentary on Netflix and now I'm a fan of the rally. The environment in these competitions is brutal and moves crowds. There are parts of the route that have a much larger flow of people than the place where we were and from the videos and photos that we had the opportunity to see, the crowd is in full swing.

Hoje termino de vos contar sobre a minha primeira experiencia ao vivo e a cores num rally.
Confesso que não procurei muita informação sobre esta competição e os seus participantes antes de lá chegar e consegui aprender um pouco sobre quem eram os pilotos e sobre a corrida, voltas e tempos.
Pesquisei apenas informação sobre o piloto do carro do Hive ssekulji.
Fiquei a gostar de formula 1 ao ver um documentário na Netflix e agora fiquei fã do rally. O ambiente nestas competições é brutal e move multidões. Existem partes do percurso que tem um fluxo de pessoas muito maior que o local onde estávamos e pelos videos e fotos que tivemos oportunidade de ver a multidão vai ao rubro.

After our lunch, which was very well served, we went up the promenade again and stayed in the shade waiting for the pilots. The idea was that I would stay at a certain point where the cars would pass and my husband would be further ahead so that we could obtain different photographic records of the Hive car as it passed. While we were waiting, a very nice lady approached us and asked who we were supporting and if we were sponsors.

Depois do nosso almoço, que foi muito bem servido, subimos novamente a alameda e ficamos à sombra à espera dos pilotos. A ideia era que eu ficasse num determinado ponto por onde os carros iam passar e o meu marido mais à frente para podermos obter registos fotográficos diferentes do carro do Hive à sua passagem. Enquanto esperávamos, uma senhora muito simpática aproximou-se de nós e questionou quem estávamos a apoiar e se éramos patrocinadores.

We had the opportunity to tell him about our pilot and how we got there. Then we asked him the same question :-) We then found out who the main drivers were, some of their victories and that he was quite up to date on the subject as his son was a mechanic for one of the best-known drivers in Portugal: Armindo Araújo. We were grateful for this conversation and off we went :-) In the place where I was I had the privilege of photographing all the cars as they left and still being close to some supporters.

Tivemos oportunidade de lhe falar sobre o nosso piloto e sobre como tínhamos chegado até ali. Depois colocamos-lhe a mesma questão :-) Soubemos então quem eram os pilotos principais, algumas das suas vitórias e que estava bastante por dentro do assunto pois o seu filho era mecânico de um dos pilotos mais conhecidos de Portugal: Armindo Araújo. Agradecemos esta conversa e lá nos fomos posicionar :-) No local onde estava tive o privilégio de fotografar todos os carros na sua saída e ainda estar perto de alguns apoiantes.

When Armindo passed, it was crazy and everyone was shouting his name. However, as the afternoon went on, I began to find it strange how long it took for the HIVE car to arrive. I took advantage of the friendliness of a couple who explained to me how to check the rally ranking in real time. From then on I started following the ranking and the cars by their number. When I saw the number of Hive's car approaching, I warned my husband to get ready and start shooting :-) Until I heard someone behind me say: "That's the last car to leave, as the control car has already is behind!"... You can't imagine how sad I was :-(

Quando o Armindo passou foi a loucura e todos gritavam o seu nome. Contudo e à medida que a tarde ia passando começei a estranhar a demora da chegado do carro do HIVE. Aproveitei a simpatia de um casal que me explicou como consultar o ranking do rally em tempo real. Daí para a frente começei a seguir o ranking e os carros pelo seu numero. Quando vi o numero do carro do Hive a aproximar-se avisei o meu marido para se preparar e começar a disparar :-) Até que ouço alguém atrás de mim dizer :" Aquele é o ultimo carro a sair, pois o carro de controlo já está atrás!"... Não imaginam como fiquei triste :-(

We had finally understood the dynamics and were ready to take some magazine-worthy photos. We later learned from the rest of the Hive members that the pilot, due to a breakdown, had been forced to withdraw out of the race.

Tínhamos finalmente percebido a dinâmica e estávamos prontos para fazer umas fotos dignas de revista. Soubemos depois pelos restantes membros do Hive que o piloto devido a uma avaria tinha sido obrigado a retirar-se da corrida.

Still, the whole experience was very very positive. I hope that next year we can be there again, this time with the youngest and that she enjoys it as much as we do.
I also hope I was able to convey to you the emotion that is felt in this competition.

Ainda assim toda a experiência foi muito muito positiva. Espero que para o ano possamos lá estar de novo, desta vez com a mais nova e que ela goste tanto como nós gostamos.
Espero também ter conseguido passar para voçês a emoção que se faz sentir nesta competição.
