Azenha do Guadiana - Mértola / Riding Portugal
Hello everyone and welcome to my blog :-)
After a day of discoveries, we found Azenha do Guadiana, in Mértola! It was late in the afternoon, when the sun was already beginning to sink below the horizon and the Guadiana River, as calm as we always saw it, was beginning to rise with the tide. The golden light reflected off the serene waters, creating a magical atmosphere, as if the river and the surrounding landscape were wrapped in one.

We approached the old watermill, a water mill that used to be used to grind cereals using the power of the Guadiana, and we noticed that, despite the late afternoon, there were still some people taking advantage of the scenery to relax. Spread across the riverbank, they took advantage of the last rays of sunlight to dive into the cool waters, enjoying a moment of relaxation in full contact with nature.
The silence that was felt allowed some people to sit on the banks and read a book.

It seems that this place has been there for centuries, a silent witness to the stories and routines of the river, retaining the essence of other times. The water ran between the stones on the bank and the distant murmur of conversations created a peaceful melody that invited us to stay.

As we walked, watching the river and the people still diving in it, we had a pleasant surprise: a group of ducklings came towards us, swimming lightly, without any fear. They approached curiously, as if they were used to the presence of visitors and were looking for a snack. His confidence was charming.

Our daughter, enchanted by the ducklings, ran to give them pieces of bread, and they, without hesitation, followed her, forming a small water procession that made us smile. It was an unexpected moment, one of those little joys that nature offers when you least expect it. Seeing these animals so at ease, in complete harmony with their environment, reinforced the feeling of tranquility.

We stayed there for a while longer, sitting by the river, watching the Guadiana flow slowly. The gentle afternoon breeze, mixed with the smell of the water and riverside plants, was perfect to end the day.

I hope you enjoyed.
See you around.
Wishing you much peace and health
