JOY
Joy is something everyone needs and seeks. Many are of the opinion that their joy consists largely in pleasures and distractions of any kind. But they do not provide permanent satisfaction; they finally lead to disillusion and sadness.
Other people seek their enjoyment in all that is beautiful and sublime in God’s creation and the creative arts. But that is all transient and will offer no comfort or help when they stand on the threshold of eternity.
Genuine joy that is not dependent on external circumstances but stands above them and therefore proves its value can come from God alone. It is brought about by His Spirit that dwells in every true believer in Christ. Such joy enabled the apostle Paul to find consolation in prison and from there even to comfort and gladden the hearts of others.
