Gospel, the believer's pride!

I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes.

*Text: Romans 1:16.

In order to clarify the meaning of the gospel, the good news, the apostle Paul makes some significant statements about it right at the beginning of his epistle to the Romans. He calls it “the gospel of God”, and points out that God Himself is the author or the source of this good news. And since it is about the message of His Son, Jesus Christ, it is also called “the gospel of his Son” (v. 9).

The main subject and central point of the gospel is the Son of God, the Lord Jesus Christ. When the time indicated by the prophets of the Old Testament was fulfilled, He came down to this earth from heaven to carry out God’s plan of salvation. Because Christ suffered and died for the lost on the cross of Calvary, God’s righteous demands have been met.

In today’s verse from the Bible we see the effectiveness of the gospel. It is “the power of God”, which is demonstrated by sinners being saved by faith.

There is no restriction for this wonderful message of salvation. God addresses everyone with the message, not just one nation, as He did in the case of Israel with the law. Moreover, as nobody has perfect righteousness, such as God could acknowledge, He offers us His own righteousness in the gospel. And we need to accept it! We must stop justifying ourselves and admit to being sinners. Whoever turns to God in this way, believing in Christ and His work of redemption, receives the forgiveness of sins and divine righteousness.
🙏🏽Dear Lord, may your gospel power quicken every feeble knees and sustain as many as maybe saved by your grace and faith in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen
