HIVE OPEN MIC WEEK 171 | SEPARATION |A COVER OF 'IT IS WELL WITH MY SOUL' BY @nathcy and @onos-f
This afternoon, a friend chatted me up, using pidgin English telling me how his plan of going to the beach today has been disrupted by rain. By the way, it has been raining since morning here in Lagos and lots of people have been separated from their plans for the day. Immediately I saw his chat, I responded in a sarcastic manner saying; 'Maybe God does not want you to get drowned'.
Earlier, I was thinking about the pains and heartbreak that Horatio G. Safford went through as a result of the separation from his family caused by ship wreck. His story was so tragic as the ocean separated him eternally from his lovely children. You can read up the story using the link above. Due to the fact that I was thinking about separation caused by water, the only response I could give to me friend was a response related to separation. I can't bear being separated eternally from my friend. At least not now. Thanks to God for the rain that impeded his going to a beach 😂
After the death of his children in the ocean, Horatio put some words together and the words were turned to music by Philip Paul Bliss. The words are;
When peace like a river, attendeth my way,
When sorrows like sea billows roll—
Whatever my lot, thou hast taught me to know
It is well, it is well with my soul.

This is the same song that I am bringing to you in this week 171 of #HiveOpenmic. Congratulations to my own sister @merit.ahama who chose the theme of separation/divorse for this week's event. I did this song which is titled it is well with my soul with @nathcy my brother who played the keyboard as I played the saxophone and we sang together. I hope you find some meaning spending your precious moment interacting with my entry. Cheers 🥂 🎶 🎹 🎵 🎻 🎤 🥁
THANKS FOR YOUR PRESENCE

@glowie 'out of this world' for real? Shebi u dey wyn me ni? 😂
Thanks for your kind words dear. Cheers 🥂 ❤️
Its the truth
Hugs 🤗🤗❤️
As always, thank you my friend. It has been raining all day in England too, only I have lit a wood fire here.
Parts of your song sound very much like a hymn I learnt as a child. Perhaps you may know it? It starts ‘For all the saints, who from their labours rest. Actually I still have my hymn book from my school days, and those days were a long long time ago……though it feels but a little while ago in my memory.
PS Ralf Vaughan Williams is considered one of England's finest composers. His work called 'The Lark Ascending' is my most favourite piece of music. It makes me think of a perfect summer day, before the Second World War, before the days of mechanised farming and the destruction of the countryside and the creatures that once common (like the skylark....a British bird), are now rare indeed.
My apologies for going off at a tangent.
PS
When I read '2 world war' I remembered when I was still an idea in the mind of God. 😂
I'm glad you have your fire to keep you warm and happy ☺
I actually do know the song as we have it in the breviary. It is sung to commemorate saints.
Thanks so much @redfeend for your beautiful presence.
I will not complement the music since we did it together😂. Your choice of song however is beautiful and quite melancholic as well. It was real fun doing it with you.
Horatio's story is tears-eliciting. May no one suffer such! Lyrics from a deeply pained soul. It leads me to consider the nature of life.
Chai. This boy good for English😂 😂 😂
Don't start now oga😂😂😂
All types of separation are difficult but even more so when it is the physical loss of a family member or friend, it is practically impossible to recover but God has a plan for everything and we must always trust in that.
How nice that you were able to share with your friend and give us this great presentation. Well done! See you soon!
You're correct. No matter what happens, we must learn to accept it as God's will for us for He knows us through and through. He has best of plans for us. Some life challenges could be a way of leading us to expected end.
Thanks for your lovely words @musicandreview . Cheers dear friend🥂 ❤️
Greetings @hiveopenmic
