So my colleagues I'm back early today to continue sharing with you all a new post. Today I'm going to tell you about an interesting musical news that we could call it more of a musical recommendation 😂, as always I'm going to leave you my opinions about it. After that in the second part of the post I will also leave you my card recommendation of our beloved Rising Star game for today. Let's start.

So friends today I want to talk to you about a classic song. Maybe many of you know it because it has been used a lot in different programs, memes and versions of songs. Although there is also the possibility that you don't know it, if that's the case well you will already know it in this post. 😂 I'm talking about the song “Cotton Eye Joe” by the band Rednex. The first thing I want to clarify is that as I understand the song is a cover they did to an original folk song. Well, the thing is that the song celebrates today 30 years and 2 months exactly since it was released.

I find this song a bit curious because it is a very strange mix between country and dance music or maybe electronic music. When I say that I find it strange I say it because I'm not very used to listen to music of that style. But of course there are many more like her, I'm just saying it for me. I hope you understand.

In my personal case I met this song several years ago, in fact I met it in a curious way 😅. I was watching the talent show called got talent Spain and then in one of the performances of the show they played the song. After that what I did was to cut the video of that fragment of the performance number and then with the google music search tool I found the song by playing a part of the video. 😂 As you can see it was a funny way to get to know the song. In fact I have known several more songs thanks to that program.

And I don't know if you know this, but I love both country and electronic music. I have already told you about this in a previous post. In my opinion both have always seemed to me that they are genres that, in principle, have nothing to do with each other, or that they don't go together. Maybe I think so because I have heard other songs that try to do the same as “Cotton Eye Joe”, to join the 2 genres but they have not been very good. With that style I think this is one of the ones I like the most. Although of course I also listen to this style of many other singers who do it very well too. Of the song itself I really like the fast rhythm of the violin that sounds crazy all the time, 😁, but it manages to sound good. Also the singer manages to adapt very well to the rhythm and I think that's the best thing.

The other thing I wanted to tell you is the meaning of the song, well here things change a bit. As I understand it, the story behind Cotton Eye Joe is not what it seems at first sight. I say that because the original version is an old folk song from the United States, and it has quite a different feel to it, because it talks about this guy, Cotton Eye Joe, who comes along and ruins everything. In the lyrics he says something like if it hadn't been for him, I'd be married by now, and you get to thinking, who hasn't had a Cotton Eye Joe in their life? That person or situation that comes out of nowhere and suddenly, poof, changes all your plans. In simple words it would be as if life suddenly gives you an unexpected twist, and what you expected to be simple, becomes complicated. I think that has happened to all of us. That's according to my appreciation of the song. It lends itself to various opinions, and everyone will see it in a different way.

So, the lesson we could take from his lyrics in my opinion is that life is unpredictable and sometimes things don't turn out the way you expect, but you have to adapt. Although, of course, I'm not saying that we all have a Cotton Eye Joe hanging around, but the idea that circumstances change, and often unexpectedly, I think is something we can all relate to.
