{<MUSIC NEWS>} and Rising Star: Card Recommendations, Prices, statistics. 25/10/2024
How are my friends? I hope you are all well. Here with cold haha. It rained here today and the weather changed a little, now it's a little cold. For us this is not normal, the cold I mean. We are used to a very hot climate, 35 degrees. So when the temperature drops a little we feel it. For those of you who read about countries where it snows this must make you laugh, because this is not cold compared to what you go through haha😂.
So my colleagues, on this day I want to share with you my usual sections that you already know. But for the newbies I'm going to remind you a little bit of what's going on today. Well first I am going to tell you about a very interesting musical news because it is about a singer who reached fame in a very peculiar way. If you want to know about it then read on. Besides that I also bring you my updated list of the best cards for today in our beloved game Rising Star. I hope you like both of them. Let's get started then.

The musical news I wanted to tell you today is that it has been 15 years, 6 months and 21 days since the singer Susan Boyle sang "I Dreamed a Dream ” on Britain's Got Talent. For all of us who listened to her at the time it was a game changer, in many ways, both for her and for those of us who listened to that show, you will see why I am telling you this later. If you do not only know or have not seen it, that audition was a success and opened many doors, even for the program or show as you want to call it.
In order for you to understand I am going to give you some context. First in my case I think I will never forget the first time I saw the video. It was a weird moment, to say the least. In that video the amateur Susan Boyle, if you can call her amateur, because I think she was a frustrated professional haha. She was far from what you would expect in a talent show, or at least she wasn't what you would normally see.
Before going on stage she was very nervous, she was waiting for her turn to go on stage. At that moment nobody gave her much importance, I think that for everyone she was going to be just another singer. But what a surprise we were going to get later. When it was her turn to go in front of the judges for her presentation she performed in a funny way, dancing and doing some “marumacas” as we say here in my country. Also, in the opinion of some, maybe she wasn't dressed in the best way for the occasion. In short, everyone thought she was going to make a fool of herself. That is something you see a lot in these programs.
Then Simon one of the judges asked her the typical questions, about why she was performing and stuff like that. 2 questions I really liked, first he asks her if she has a dream and she says yes, she wants to be a professional singer. And then he says why hasn't that happened yet, she answers because she hasn't given herself the opportunity yet, but she hopes that will change now. The second question I liked is when they ask her if she wants to be as successful as someone else, and she answers that she wants to be as successful as Elaine Paige. In response to that the audience empathizes by laughing and underestimating her. But everyone is going to get a wake-up call in a few minutes.
By the way later on she and Elaine Paige do collaborations together and become very good friends. So moving on, when she is about to start singing everyone is like, “she is going to make a fool of herself”, but nothing, when she starts the song everyone is stunned by her voice, because it is perfect in every way. She sang so well that everyone couldn't believe what just happened. I think in the video they felt that impact, which this text may not be able to convey
Add to that that particular song I Dreamed a Dream which she sang is difficult. It talks about dreams and loss, about what one idealizes and how that sometimes falls apart. It's a reality, many carry their own dreams that are sometimes cut short, and what I find curious is how, no matter how many times I listen to it, Susan's interpretation always sounds raw, honest, as if she is really telling me her own story.
For me from then on, I wanted to know more about her. Maybe, I thought to myself, she would be one of those people who comes along, gives her surprise and disappears. But that wasn't the case. Susan Boyle stayed, and she stayed in her own way, without changing much, without becoming something she was not. It was almost like having an example that one's talent and story can emerge even when you least expect it, and that you don't always have to fit the mold to become recognized.
Like many of you, I also followed some of her other songs, and while I haven't heard them all, each one I find makes me think that her style has merit. She doesn't go for the perfection of a polished voice, instead, she goes with a rough voice, which at times seems to break, and maybe that's precisely what makes the music more real, less elaborate, more relatable. I see it that way.
Fifteen years have passed since that day, and to be honest, I don't know if today such a story would have the same impact on a society that seems to demand more than what can be offered. Boyle was, in her own way, a kind of reminder that there are people out there waiting for their moment, whatever it may be. Maybe today the success of someone like her wouldn't have as much relevance or go unnoticed, but 15 years ago she reminded us of something, it's not always about delivering what's expected, sometimes it's simply a matter of being at the right time and having something real to share.
So I leave the video for you to watch and enjoy for yourselves. I'm sure you will be amazed. Let me know later in the comments. Don't forget to check out my recommendation below.
