Beautiful Disaster-A beautiful movie[Movie Review]

I've never really been a fan of book adapted movies. I don't really fancy it. They always tend to take out important or dark part in the book and try to turn it into something normal and comfortable to the audience (which is good...in a way). But doing this sometimes changes the whole concept of the book. I love to see really good book adapted movies though. It's not easy to adapt or make something the same way as it was elsewhere and in a different format. It's like forging or trying to write someone's signature the exact same way but also adding your own style or removing some lines that were too complex for you to do.

The book,Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire was adapted into a movie in the year 2023. The story follows the life of Abby Abernathy(played by Virginia Gardiner), a college student trying to escape her troubled past. She's serious, keeps to herself and does everything she can to avoid attention.
One day Abby was invited by some of her friends to a sort of party. To her horror,it was an underground fight club, where people bet on fighters and indulge in acts such as drinking and smoking and other things. A particular fighter caught her eyes, Travis Maddox.

He was literally the opposite of her,in every single way. Travis(played by Dylan Sprouse) is a hot headed, charming fighter. Travis is known around campus as the ultimate bad boy. He’s a fighter—literally. He makes money by entering underground fight clubs, and his reputation for being unpredictable and dangerous is enough to scare people off. But for some reason, Abby just can’t stay away from him. She’s drawn to him in a way she doesn’t quite understand, and soon enough, they start spending more time together. They form an unlikely bond, despite their differences, and it’s clear there’s a lot of chemistry between them.

The whole story kind of kicks off when Abby gets roped into a bet originated by Travis. He places a bet on the false fact that she won’t be able to spend a full month as his “friend” without falling for him. Abby, trying to show how strong she was, is confident she can stay strong and resist him. But things quickly get complicated as they grow closer. It becomes more intense and things start developing quickly. Things that both Travis and Abby want nothing to do with.

As their relationship grows, Abby's traumatized past and secrets begins to catch up with her,as she's no angel herself. So yes,we have the two of them fighting to remain stable with themselves, causing the both to separate. Turns out, Abby is a secret renowned gambler and unfortunately finds herself in huge dept.

I watched this movie and I loved it. I didn't know it was a book adaption, although it was giving the vibes of a book that seemed familiar. It was really really good. I enjoyed it and both characters played their roles perfectly. I've always been a big fan on Dylan Sprouse so you can bet that I genuinely enjoyed this movie. I watched it from start to finish, without pausing or anything, something I don't do quite often. It's an 18+ rated movie as they are some scenes that can seem like an erotic pushover if that makes any sense. I'd recommend it to anyone who's in search of a little drama, romance,a little violence and steamy conversations. I don't know which is better, the book or the movie. Both were really good.

Thanks for reading.

This I lovely, dear and yeah, movie adaptations tend to go bad a good amount of the time. But this works. And I may actually watch this, because hello, Dylan Sprouse! Nicely reviewed, dear. Thanks for sharing.🌺

I might not be an avid reader but i always refer to read the book before the movie adaptation. The movies are mostly watered down and lack as much thrill. I have no plans of reading the book for this film, however, I'll try to see the movie.
I'm interested to know how bad Arby's past and addiction were.

I know, it's always best to read the book first before the movie. But low-key, I'd say if you want to see the particular movie, choose one. The book or the movie. Cause if you want to do both, you'd end up comparing them and you won't enjoy it cause you might be irked out about how the characters are acting it on screen and might be disappointed about how they removed some key point from the book in the movie... It's an exhausting chore
