Nigeria has been facing a lot of challenges. The government rulership is so poor, the economy is really really bad and the government has refused to do anything about it.

BAD ECONOMY

For the past few years the economy value has fallen and it keeps on falling by the day. Since 2015 when the rulership of the government was transferred to another political party, things began to change.

Did things change for good or for bad ?

Of course Not!. Things became bad, prices of things become so expensive, hunger increased , naira keeps depreciating and lossing it's value.

After the covid-19 the situation doubled, things kept going crazy, the prices we were complaining were high just kept skyrocketing day by day .

Everyone is literally feeling the heat of this bad economy, from new born baby to children, adults and older people. Everyone is complaining about the current situation of the country.

Few years back, before the new government took over the rulership. People were always complaining that things were expensive as at that time. Throwback to 2015 i was buying an egg 🥚 for just 35 naira and the most expensive egg was sold at 40 naira, which was not even up to 1 $HIVE.

Even when i was still in secondary school, books were not even expensive, even a common student could afford to buy stationeries, regardless of how everything was so cheap and affordable, people still complained about how things use to be cheaper before then .

As at that time, fuel was sold for 200 naira per litre, which was Very affordable. I could remember when I was still in junior secondary school, i could use 200 naira for the whole day and still have some little change left.

Back then a pot of soup doesn't cost an arm, even a common man could make soup with the little he has.

PRESENT GOVERNMENT

The present government came in and they decided to turn things around. Within the first year of their rulership, everyone started feeling the heat, prices of things got higher x3. Yes ! I didn't talk about how dollar rate was friendly and wasn't high. Due to the fact that we have less production, our economy keeps going bad and our currency keeps depreciating .

Presently Dollar exchange rate per dollar is equivalent to 1.5 HBD, and this is no good at all.

Well, I've been talking about the economy side of it, let's talk about those at the top, and those in power.

Abuse of power

In Nigeria once you have a big position or you know a person at the top, you can easily make use of your power anyhow you choose or you feel like, power makes people to oppress those who don't have power at all.

Not only the government abuse their powers, the police officers, the soldiers, the bankers, as a matter of fact, every citizen abuse the little power they have, to either control other people or for their own selfish interests.

END SARS

In Nigeria, we have a special military force known as SPECIAL ANTI ROBBERY SQUAD (SARS). The work of sars was to fight corruption and arrest criminals, but guess what?, they started abusing their powers. They began to oppress people, especially the young boys or young guys.

As long as you're good looking and well dressed, you're a suspect . They are some guys that are addressed as YAHOO BOYS. Yahoo boys are guys that involve in internet fraud and scamming people, especially the white people.

Sars, started misusing their powers and authority, they started bullying any young guy they find on the streets, asking them to hand over their phones, without a search warrant.

A lot of youth became scared to come outside to go about their daily activities, because of sars. It got to a point where sars started killing people for just little or no relivent reason.

OCTOBER 2020 PROTEST

The protest was against police brutality, corruption and abuse of arms, this protest was lead by a large number of nigerian youths .

The protest didn't end well, the protesters were attacked and majority of them lost their lives. Yes !, they were attacked by the Nigerian military force, it didn't end in peace as some of the protesters began destroying properties belonging to the government.

It never went well ❤️‍🩹.

AUGUST 1ST 2024 PROTEST

Like i mentioned earlier, the economy has been very terrible, the cost of living is increasing every minute. An item you purchased in the morning for 1 $HBD going back in the evening or the next day to purchase the same item, the price would've increased to the value of 2HBD .

This is how messed up the economy is, and no one is happy about it. Few days ago, the citizens began to protest asking the government to do something about the present situation of the country .

Well, let's see how it goes, i hope the government hears the cry of it's citizens.
