MCGI CARES ZOOM MEETING HELD ON: 30th DECEMBER, 2022

Good day brethren, I welcome you all to my blog. My name is Olu Thomas, this is my third post in MCGI Cares community. I was supposed to be in all the meetings but due to phone challenge, I missed some of the meetings but by the grace of God I will get a phone soon, I still used a friend phone today, but I changed the username to mine in order to attend the meeting.

I will be sharing with us the lessons I learnt from today's Live zoom meeting held on 30th December, 2022.

LESSONS

It's an honour to be in MCGI cares community and also to be present in the zoom meeting,it is dishonorable to be present in a meeting like this and your life still remain the same. In today's teachings i learned that to him that has the ability to do good, and do it not, to such is a sin. That means, such a person is guilty of sin, if he choose not to do it. James 1:17 clearly stated it "If anyone, then, knows the good they ought to do and doesn’t do it, it is sin for them." This is God speaking and it is universally true that when ever a man knows what is right, but does not act according to it, he is guilty of sin. If a man understand his or her duty or If I have the means to do good to others, either by my name, by my influence, my riches and I choose not to do it am guilty of sin, if am having all this but I don't do good, then am guilty of sin. Most people are shy from doing good because of selfishness or because they don't want to be popular, they don't want people to say, they are doing eye service, you are still guilty of sin. When ever you do good, have that mentality that you are not doing it unto men, but unto the Lord and He will be your rewarder.

We are instructed not to only love those who loves us, but also love our enemies and pray for those who persecute us. While the teaching is going on I was reminiscing within myself, if I then choose to love my enemies and pray for those who persecute me, what will be my benefit and Jesus did not spells out any benefit from that scripture, I now notice that Jesus did not really instruct you and me to love our enemies for what we will gain or in order for their hearts to change. It might not happen that way, but that is not the the primary reason why he instructed us. Jesus wants us to imitate Him, so we can be the children of God. We don't love our enemies in order to get what we want or for any benefit but because that is what children of God ought to do.

If we believe in the doctrine of God, then doing good is among the doctrine. Romans 12:8, Proverbs 6:23. It's a teaching that all the body of Christ needs to take it serious.

And we need to have the fear of God, and you can't say you have the fear of God if you don't love or keep His commandments for Jesus said "if you love me keep my commandment" and I learnt from today teachings that there's a law of Christ we need to fulfil as a Christian, not through the law of Moses but of Christ. The law of Christ states that we should carry each other burden, by doing so we are fulfilling His law. Jesus came to the world and showed us how to carry each others burden by reconciling and he took our sins upon himself. Jesus knew no sin, but He came to the world and He became sin, sin is our burden, he took the nature and and he gave us Righteousness, because of that we can freely say we are the Righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. Glory to Jesus.

And we also see in the scripture how God anointed Jesus, after that Jesus go about doing good, obeying the law of His father, He wants us to do same, despite how the world rejected, accused, called him all sort of names, saying that Jesus is not from God, but he still show us love.

I also learned something new today, that got me thinking, I was asking myself questions trusting the holy spirit to give me clear understanding, Matthew 12:46-50
46 NIV:While Jesus was still talking to the crowd, his mother and brothers stood outside, wanting to speak to him.

47 NIV:Someone told him, “Your mother and brothers are standing outside, wanting to speak to you.”

48 NIV:He replied to him, “Who is my mother, and who are my brothers?”

49 NIV:Pointing to his disciples, he said, “Here are my mother and my brothers.

50 NIV:For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.”

The respond that Jesus gave them makes me asked myself, do Jesus mean that only people who do the will of God in heaven are qualify to be my brother, sister and mother. So I now draw a conclusion within myself, I telling myself is not about blood any longer, but is about who is willing to do the will of my Father, so if my blood brother or sister are not willing to do the will of God, you can go out of the house, there are many brothers, sisters and mothers that are willing to receive this goodnews outside your house. Anyone who is willing to do the will of God, He is my brother, sister and mother. Why am making this point is for us to also love the brethren that we thought they are not connected to us by birth. If we can help them just the way we helped those ones we are connected by birth, then the world will be a better place, please we should do so to the glory of God. And we are advice to do good even to those who are not in the same faith with ours.

Every year,people do make new year resolutions and sometimes we are disappointed by the outcomes or by the result we get. Some will said I will never womanize, i will never drink alcohol again, I won't borrowed, I will be serious with God, I will follow peace with all men, I will read my bible everyday. But what we are suppose to do is to table it before the Lord, we need to pray for His directives and listen to what He is also saying regards the resolution we are making ways.
