UNVEILING THE SCAM || My Experience With Fraud
Hello,
I'm glad to have you here.

We now live in a time where the difference between authentic and fake is so vague. A time where conniving people have now gotten really good at contriving illusions to make you want to do their bidding disguised as "doing good". And most of the time, their bidding is for their own good, but dangerously at our own detriment. I am talking about scammers and their devious acts.
Dear reader, you could agree that, as death is inevitable, evolution is inevitable. As we learn every day, we create every day. That is how technology keeps developing. And as technology develops, more solutions to existing problems are provided, but new problems are created.

For about two decades now, it has been taken that it is the elderly that fall into these money scams. But as technology has advanced and humans have grown smarter day by day, and it now happens that anyone can fall victim to scammers. And if you have not had some experience with any of these scammers (which I highly doubt), then you should be familiar with some of these sentences:
"Let your money work for you."
"Mr./Mrs./Miss (the victim's name), you have a $200 dividend unclaimed." "Please call Mr. Mike (scammer) before 24 hours to avoid loss."
"This is your account manager, Amanda, from Zenith Bank plc." Your account has been compromised. Provide PIN and bank details for verification to proceed with account protection. "
"You have been selected by Elon Musk and have won a Tesla plaid." "Click on the link to claim."
"You have been a buzzy bee today." "Click link" (provides phishing link) to claim 5 HIVE.
I can go on and on about the many types of messages these con artists use to get their victims and the list would just never end. And they usually look so harmless and quite tempting, in fact, like a once-in-a-lifetime jackpot. It's like the universe finally shines its spotlight on you. Haha, if only the universe were that generous.
Too good to be true...
Let me share with you my experience with scammers. It was the season of "planting your money" and then watching it grow whilst you go on to binge-watch Mr. Beast for 17 hours.

The forex market was booming like it was Christmas every day. And the most popular statement was "let your money work for you." And it was the statement of the year. You can practically not go about social media without seeing it 100 times in a day.
Surely, I was skeptical at first; I mean, anyone would should. It was something contrary to the rule of life we all knew, "no food for a lazy man." And here was the golden opportunity to be lazy and still get food.
My mother had warned me. She even talked about some of her friends' mistake with "MMM" at the time it was the talk of the country: they had been duped before. But I was "wise" and could not fall into such a trap. I assured her that the person running it was a close friend who would never deceive me; oh, the irony of life.

I played the smart game, risking a little money in the hopes of proving my dear mother wrong; if only I had listened to that spiritual woman. And guess what? I did get the 25% return-on-investment with initial capital (those sweet words) at the end of 30 days. I showed her and said, "I told you it was legit." She kept quiet, and she never objected any further.
I was adding more money and even reinvesting all the profit (I wanted maximum profit). I continued that way for a long time. Then the day of judgement came.
"I'd like to withdraw it all till further notice," I said. "Oh okay, let me get back to you," she said. Three days later, "Hello, I am yet to receive payment on my request," I called in again. "Have I ever been late with your payment before?" she rhetorically asked.

Fast forward to months later, after a series of communications with excuses, it dawned on me that I was never getting my $700 USD back. I had been duped!
Lesson to be learned...
Yes, I was blatantly foolish on my path, but it clearly was a scam, a subtle one.
For others, their stories may be quite different. Some of it could be through a phishing link to a site that could look like some HIVE frontend and would request your keys. For others, it could be some magic wire transfer just by helping an innocent-looking individual with a cash withdrawal from an ATM. But at the end of the day, a scam is a scam.
So before we come to a conclusion, let me share with you a few things that I have learned in uncovering a scam:
Request for private credentials; they are called "private" for a reason.
There are usually inconsistencies in between. Something like "For your engagement in this community in the last six hours..." When I had been asleep all day? Nahhh...
They always have unusual usernames, or email addresses, or some strange phone number. I am sure if acidyo wanted to tip me for my engagement in OCD, he could straight up send me liquid HIVE and not ask me to click some dark link.
And lastly, they always sound too good to be true. Of course, some things sound too good to be true and are actually true, but in most cases, they are never true.
Finally, mi amigo...
There will always be scammers everywhere, but they really can not do anything without your consent. All they need is that "go ahead" from you. And to you, you're trying to hit a bonus, but rather you are going head-on to hug a minus (damn, I could be the next Eminem).
You may have had an experience and feel that you can never fall victim again, but we really can not be too certain. So, we always have to keep our guards up. I surely have learned, but that does not give me an "immunity badge". Rather, I have only become wiser.

You're absolutely right. Everyone and anyone can be scammed these days and these scammers have gotten smarter in order to dupe innocent individuals.
You get the idea.
Thanks for stopping by.

Oh well, you really should have taken that profit instead of investing it back.... Lol.
Sorry about that experience.
Exactly!
You see that I haven't been the best at making good financial decisions.
Thanks for stopping by...
In situations like this we just need to be careful because they can come in any form to dupe anybody
You get the idea.
"Shine your eyes!!"
Only if you listened to your mum.
Well, it could happen to anyone , what about me...it's well shaa
The good thing is that we are getting wiser with the experience .
If only!
I could have powered up with that amount instead.
We learn everyday, yeah...
You are right, scammers won't do anything without our consent, they sure need our go-ahead and at that moment, two things are bound to happen; whether to be wise or be a fool. At least one would have taught us a lesson. I was a victim of so many but here we are today, still grateful.
Nothing more, nothing less. Nothing like sitting on the fence.
Yes o.
Grateful that we know better now.
Once a deal sounds too good to be true, then you should suspect that it is most likely too good to be. Things like that I am always skeptical about that, and it has saved me from a lot of loss.
Thank you for sharing this with us.
Life isn't "wonderland" where all your wishes Judy may come true.
Wow, I read your experience thanks brother for sharing, I hope we don't experience that no more.
Thanks for stopping by
You are welcome
Damn . I've never read anything like this before 😂.. your words are not just true but perfect. We can't runaway from scammers because they are everywhere including ourselves 😂😅.. but truly, they are powerless without our permission..
Avoiding them is futile; they will sure find you. One just has to be careful and smart when they come around. Not lettting them prey on your soft side. You feel me?
And yes, they are quite powerless without our consent.
Thanks for stopping by...
Now, I'm off to see your entry.
Why??😁
Ohh😅😅❤️
You are absolutely right. Everyone and anyone can be cheated let alone have not.never felt anything like that. it is getting tricked and we are getting smarter to deceive innocent people. thanks for the information buddy
You get the idea...
It is quite wrong to rip people of their possesions because of their innocence.
Thanks for stopping by...
Yes, thank you for visiting my friend. this can't be left alone and we must quickly ask others for help about it, especially for people who are experienced about it
This is a well detailed post. That period of money doubling caught a lot of us in their webs. It wasn't borne out of greed like people would always claim but out of the desire to make enough to take care of basic needs and loved ones. MMM dealt with me but did I learn my lesson? No I still went ahead to invest in some other Forex companies. Funny enough, they always pay you the first time but the second time is never guaranteed.
You've done great justice in listing some ways to identify spammers. Private information should never be given out and any link that you do not know the source should never be clicked. It's important we stay safe all the time.
Some people may call it greed, but if that were the case, we all here on Hive must be greedy. Why not start a physical business and earn money the conventional way, rather than the ways of the blockchain? I mean, some of us are just looking for smarter ways to make money efficiently. And if it comes without breaking a sweat, that's really good.
What I am trying to say is, trying to make more money by using your money to work for you isn't really a greedy idea. All the billionaires do it. What is wrong is being ignorant of the scams behind the methods.
Yes, me not pulling out when I had the chance, or better still, not keeping the profits for contigencies like the eventual fraud, may seem greedy of me. But I would rather term it "unintelligent" of me. Feel me, @zyzymena?
Such is life...😁
We can be quite stubborn about life's lessons sometimes.
Exactly!
You get the point.
You must have made your entry. I am off to see it now...🏃
You've said it all. Why work so hard if there is a better and softer way to make money. It's not our fault that they are scammers and we fell for their skimming ways. We just wanted a better life but now we are more knowledgeable and can sniff out scam from a km away.
I didn't make any entry. I've been busy with the ecency Dreemport challenge I entered.
Hahahaha... It is the "km" for me. You be shark??
Well, don't try someone who has been scammed too many times, I think shark is learning where I am
Scammers will always scam and their activities will keep increasing. The moment a deal sounds so juicy and promises unbelievable returns watch it.
We just need to be very careful with our dealings.
thanks for sharing
Just watch it and be careful o!!
Because life is not a bed of roses...
Thank you for your time
Extreme care is what we simply need to survive in this present world.
Everybody can definitely be scammed I have been a victim once.
Thanks for sharing dear friend
"Extreme care" may just be an understatement sef
Nobody is bigger than life
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣did you tell your mum about the outcome? I mean she need to hear this.
They gained your trust that's how some of them work.
Mehn!!!you shouldn't have invested again if you had known.
Sorry about the experience and thanks for sharing your story.
She kuku knew about it. And now, what she says stands...
Only God knows how many things I would have gotten right if I had known their outcomes before hand. But that is just life, the future will always be a mystery. We just have to be sharp about our decisions and not be ignorant.
Thank you jare. I have now learnt, and that is what is important.
I believe you must have made your entry as well. I now off to see it.
Yea we learn everyday....
Thank you reading mine and commenting on it as well.
This brings back lots of memories. 😅
I was almost dragged into this ROI thingy too, but I don't know how I managed to not invest.
The strategy they all used was perfect and there was too much evidence to doubt that anything could go wrong. Well, it did, and I know we've all learnt how lessons now. 😂
Thank your lucky stars, brother. You probably would have been sharing a similiar story.
And that is exactly what they want you to think. They want you to build trust for them and then, BOOM, you're in the mud.
Thanks for your time man. Glad to see you in my blog.
Abi o. We're all smarter now sha. No one can fall for that kind of scam again.
My pleasure, boss. 😊
I can almost relate to all that you’ve said. I guess that is mainly because we both fell into the same scam. Hahaha
Yes, even from the way they approach you, you almost have a sneaking suspicion that it's a con, but the promise is too alluring to pass up.
Even with such knowledge of frauds, one cannot become immune to them. I pray we spot scams easily and disregard them promptly.
I'm glad we survived it. And now we know better.
And for the alluring promise, it takes discipline to get one's thoughts staright.
I see you are getting a hang of hive.
Keep it up, man...
Scammers indeed have many ways it's left for us to open up our eyes widely and detect them immediately 🙏
You get the idea...
Thanks for stopping by.
Oh kk
Welcome 😁
Scammers are MTN Everywhere you go, you'll always See them.
we Just have to be wise, watchful and careful so we won't be like a mare fool (hmm see what I did there?)
Hmm, nice one, saw the rhyme...
Funny how it is ironic to my experience lately with MTN.
They have not been in my area lately...
Thanks man😁
I'm glad you stopped by.
It's my pleasure sir
