You would agree with me that everybody always has an opinion about whatever information they receive; even an "I don't care" or "I'm indifferent" is an opinion. In one way or another, there is always some form of thought process to anything perceived. This is why the importance of quality conversations cannot be underemphasized; and I talked about that here.

But with every information we receive, do we actually examine and evaluate the authenticity of the information?
Social media has become a space for anything, literally anything. Anyone can give their opinions about and nobody can really put them in cuffs for the wrong ones as everybody has "freedom of speech".

When an influencer talks about a new coin, how well it is doing, and the profits that could be made, do I just jump into buying because he says so? Undoubtedly an unwise decision, you would agree.

Well, it is a good thing to listen to experienced individuals on their opinions with matters, but then, no one actually sees the future so vividly and that could put you in a dark spot so one needs to be careful check things out for themselves.

Importance of doing your own research.

Of course, doing your own research does not only apply to examining information that you have received. It also means to making observation and exploring them.
As Sherlock Holmes would say, "you see, but you do not observe."

To improve efficiency is to improve productivity with minimum wasted effort or expense. And doing your own research can greatly affect this.

Going deeper into a concept of interest can bring to light so much knowledge. And with knowledge comes power. You begin to do things differently and better as you learn more about them. And DYOR saves you from a whole lot of mistakes you could make from being ignorant.

I can never forget a time where I lost a ton of money. "Let your money work for you" was all over the air that time. It all sounded too beautiful to let it slide. All I had to do was "invest" and get twenty percent return on investment (ROI). I never questioned the methods, and I never assessed and evaluated the risks, and I did not even do a background check on them. Worse of all, I put all my eggs in one basket.

I lost $700 and my whole life plummeted. If I had even joined HIVE at that time and used it to power up, I definitely would have been way better off. That, dear reader, is something that I could have avoided if I had done my own research.

In conclusion...

It is very convenient to accept something that appears valid. And with social media now, everything is practically in the very air that we breathe; everybody is saying something. And it can be quite difficult, even unrealistic, to fact-check every single thing.

The point is, if some information is to affect your life in the long run, you might as well want it to be the right one.
