Gifting Relaxation: A Solitary Present for a Special Person

avatar

Being generous is more satisfying for me; it's fulfilling. And it is especially true when I am able to be that way for those who love and care for me. That is, if I could lavish my friends with gifts they wouldn't expect, I would do so without much hesitation.

Today, I would like to gift something a little different to a very special person to me. I would like to gift this person an all-expense-paid visit to the spa, as they are more than deserving for the irreplaceable role they play in my life. As a matter of fact, it's their birthday today. Yeah, the same day as Christmas.

I am giving them a spa treatment not because it would suddenly suffice for the time, effort, love, compassion, and kindness poured into my entire life, but because it would be a simple way of showing them a token of how grateful I am to be blessed to have them in my life.

Raising a child single-handedly for many years is a challenge that not many people can take on, and most would actually abandon the project. But can you blame them? Well, to be jilted and left with the product of a consensual agreement between oneself and another is a heavy load to carry. How much more, two?

My mother, dear reader, is whom I am describing here. And of all the many things I can gift her as a Christmas gift, taking her to a spa is one that I'd like to give her as a gift for her enjoyment alone.

I have never been to a spa before, but I know spas provide peaceful and relaxing atmospheres where people can go to relax and rejuvenate their bodies and minds. And I don't believe my mother has either.

Why the spa?

Well, she does talk about certain types of aches, and they seem to recur under certain conditions. She doesn't usually say much about them, but I can certainly tell when she's not feeling 100%. Most of the time, they are headaches or body aches. I think it's something that comes with age anyway. She's 51 today.

I am not saying that a visit to the spa is going to fix things, but I am certain that she'd love the experience. Heck, who doesn't love to relax and unwind and get some of those massages, pedicures, body treatments, and manicures that all those rich kids do every day? I know I do.

It'll be great to just get the booking done and forward her the email for her appointment based on her desired time, get her all set up, and give her a not-so-big but valuable experience. She'd surely appreciate it.

I have no idea how all of that is done, as I have never been to one, but looking for a good one and making inquiries shouldn't be an issue in any way.

Mothers deserve the best. It’s so thoughtful of you to be thinking of gifting her something like this, that goes deeper beyond material stuff.

I haven’t been to a spa either, but I’m sure the experience will be one to remember. If you make it there first, tell me about it:)

My man. Mothers deserve a whole lot more than they can get. I'm glad you resonate with my perspective with this gift.

Whichever one of us that gets to the spa first should tell the other about the experience.

Happy New Year in advance!

I actually haven't gotten her the gift yet. I am still working on making it work. But thank you. She does deserve everything.

Happy New Year in advance.

Pampering our mother is a beautiful gesture of love, everything we do for them is little and yet they will receive it as something immense and with an open heart.

Oh yes. It may seem little to us, the children, but somehow, it is so much in their eyes. With an open heart indeed, do they receive our gifts.

Did you wrap something for your mother this Christmas too?

It definitely is not easy to bear. But she's a strong woman. One of my goals is to make things much easier for her; that'll be making her proud.

Your mom will surely love a visit to the spa! Depending on the amenities provided it can increase more of relaxation. But a simple massage can ease up some tension and stress that has been building up. It isn't a miracle session but truly a great experience one should do!

You should try that as well probably when your mom visit, try to join her too.

Man, you totally get it. I know it's not much, but it'll sure go a long way to help her feel much better.

And you know what? I might as well join her in the experience.

Have you ever been before?

Yes, we often visit such places back then. Before the lockdowns happened my girlfriend and now wife visits spas that have hot springs and water pressure pools.

Join your mom! You will enjoy it for sure!

Oh, that's so cool. Your girlfriend became you wife. You are a married man...I am a pretty young chap, but I have no girlfriend.

Must be so cool to visit the spa often.
I'll look into visiting a couple of times in the new year.

Awwwwwn 🥰
Mummy like no other
First, happy belated birthday to her. May God keep her in good health to live and eat the fruit of her labour.

She has done so much already from what I read now...
Also the spa treatment is a good idea
I really hope she gets all the relaxation you wanted
